What are some good ways to lose weight?

Question Posted Monday December 29 2014, 12:43 am

I need to lose weight as I am overweight, I am 200 pounds. The main problem is I cannot exercise. If I go on a treadmill or other gym equipment I get bored after five minutes and get off. What are some other tips to maybe lose weight

Hi! You don't have to go to the gym to lose weight. You can start by eating healthy, giving yourself a limit when you're eating. You don't even need to use gym equipment to lose weight. I go to the gym during the weekends and I don't lift weights, or that kind of crazy stuff (I sometimes use a medicine ball so my hands have something to do, but it's not really necessary). I usually have a workout written out so that I'm prepared when I go to the gym. Some stuff you can do at the gym without having to use equipment are wall squats, push-ups, planking, sit-ups, crunches, v-ups, leg lifts. That's all I can think of right now. I hope this helped!

Best Wishes

So, you get bored.

Set concrete goals. Don't just "get on the treadmill". Get on it for X minutes, do Y distance, and have a plan to increase those two numbers over a period of six months. When your inner easily-distracted child whines "are we *there* yet?", answer - "No, we have another 12 minutes. Now shut up and settle down."

Another suggestion is to pair up with a buddy.

I agree with the previous poster, watch your calorie intake more, choose foods that are as LOW in calories as possible.

If you cant walk, then try swimming in a pool! its alot easier on your joints, you can go to any YMCA and pay maybe 100 to stay in the pool all day! ; )

cut out white bread, white sugar, eat whole wheat, drink more water to flush the toxic junk out, try to walk your dog more, or sweep your whole front yard, or listen to music while you do anything. That helps people keep going for longer then they planned because their busy enjoying their favorite tunes.

go to the park and get on a swing and use all your muscles for just a few minutes to get high and then relax, and do it over again. see? theres plenty of things you can do that would be fun and get your heart rate up. You should obviously start slow and build up to whatever it is you choose to do everyday.

create a playlist of your favorite songs to work out to, if you havent already.

There are two ways to lose weight.

1) eat less
2) burn more calories

If you do both, you'll lose weight faster.

If you want to burn calories, you should not be on a treadmill. You need to lift weights. Lifting weights burns WAY more calories than walking or running.

You should also stop eating crap and drinking soda. Plus, don't eat after 8pm.
