I grew up on a ranch so we've had about almost every kind of animal there is. now what I would do is get the drops first clean them really well then get the flea collars this works both on cats and dogs hoped this helped

There are very safe pills for cats and dogs that can be given to them once a day and will kill adult fleas in as little as 30 minutes. A single treatment of this will not rid you of all the fleas, but it's a start.
Also the trap mentioned by the other answer is also something that works sometimes. You put a couple drops of soap (just to reduce surface tension) into a pan of hot water. You can use a lamp or a candle within the pan to keep the area warm (note this is not for light, fleas are not attracted to light, but to warmth).
Again, these are adult flea solutions only, and will do nothing about the eggs and larva, which usually will live in your carpet where even the vacuum can not reach them.
In this case, you should pour borax onto every carpeted surface where you have fleas, work it in with your shoes and let it sit for about an hour, and then vacuum it up. It is relatively safe, but I don't recommend allowing your dogs to lay in the treated areas before you vacuum.

If you think you can keep the dogs from stepping into shallow containers of soap water in their favorite resting places, then here's a method that works well. Heres one article with video on the procedure. There is even a commercially made/sold product that does the same thing. But its so easy to make yourself and use something like a posable desk lamp, that you can make one for every room for less cost
