He doesn't want to wear a condom

Question Posted Sunday April 20 2014, 2:04 pm

19 / f
So me and my bf are wanting to have sex. We've tried plenty of times using a condom but failed-both of us struggle to put it on.
So I suggested instead of using a condom to use other methods of birth control such as pills.
I live in the UK, and I wanted to know what options are available for me and how can I access pills? Or is the onky solution to visit a doctor?

I'm not sure about what the UK has but there is a birth control other than the pills called "implanon" it goes in your arm and is effective for up to 3 years. Don't just look into pills. Beginners can be confused on what do to and there are a few things that will counteract the pill.

But if your just stuck on taking the pill. You can go to any clinic or whatever you have available to you, Hospital or clinic, and your doctor can give you the pill and go over in detail how to do it appropriately. But just know that just because you get on the pill, if you decide, it doesn't work automatically and clear you of pregnancy. It can take up to a month for your body to get use to the pill. You can only get those with doctors. Any birth control really and depending your age you may need parental consent.

You can also use the Plan B pill (Morning after pill). It's available in the stores and can be used if you don't want to get the pill. But it's not be used in the long run or it can ruin your fertility.

My advice is to research your options and in the meantime be careful with having sex.

Good Luck.

The only way, the proper way to get birth control pills is in consultation with either your GP or GYN. The doctor will examine you, make sure your not pregnant and review your medical history. After the examination is concluded the doctor can make the proper decision on which of the different varieties of birth control medications is right for you.

I would also suggest the while you're with your doctor that you ask to be shown how to put a condom on properly as well as how is best to select the proper condom. Even though you will be on birth control it is best that the male continue to use a condom as the condom is the best defense against many of the STDS and the HIV/AIDS virus.

I can't say if this partner will be your first and only sex partner. But until you are in a long term monogamous relationship with someone as in living together or married, your partner should always wear a condom. It is for his and your protection.

Remember anytime you have unprotected sex with someone you are both having sex with all the partners you and he have had unprotected sex with. In fact while you're with your doctor your should be tested for STDS and you should ask your boyfriend to be tested too.

Safe sex is the best sex.

I live in the UK too, and consultations with your gp are free on the nhs, so the no-brainer answer is go and see him/her and have a chat. They'll have access to your complete medical history and will be able to suggest THE most suitable method of contraception for YOU. He/she will NOT say go and buy condoms if you say you have problems using them and don't want to. You'll get all the dope on exactly how to employ your chosen method, any possible side-effects to be on the lookout for, the possibility of clashes with other medication...everything. Mistakes in contraception equal unwanted pregnancy. Which is a bad idea for everyone involved. I'd definitely avoid obtaining any form of contraception from any other source. Especially one that is willing to dish it out without knowing, or caring anything about you. You'll be down with your doctor as using 'such-and-such'. If for instance, some time in the future you're prescribed medication or treatment for some even minor health issue which may render it less effective, or non-effective...you'll be kept in the picture. Basically, visit the doc. It's a no-lose setup, and it's free.

I researched on line for the equivalent to our Planned Parenthood in the U.S. Looks like the UK has BPAS British Pregnancy Advisory Service.
By the name alone, it sounds like something that caters to pregnant women only, but in a wiki link even vasectomys for men are mentioned.

If I were you, I'd call the nearest location to you and ask if they provide lost cost or free birth control, and if not, find out from them who does.
I know the PP here in U.S. have classes to teach how to put on a condom, perhaps they have that too, cus its good for protection against STD's Sexual diseases, even if not used for birth control.

the doctor is not the only way to get the pill, there are family planning clinics you can go to, if you go on google and type in family planning clinics in your area they should tell you what day and time they are open, no appointment is needed just walk in.....they will advise you on all kinds of birth control i personally reccomend the inplant (small stick in the arm)it works for 3years with out you having to remember to take it at the same time or risking unwanted pregnancy, plus it stops your period completely while you have it in so you can your boyfriend can have sex whenever you want just remember with any birth control it takes a week to become effective
