Dragonflymagic answered Sunday August 25 2013, 5:46 pm: I chose for religious reasons to not have a sexual relationship with the man I married due to our Religious beliefs as Christians. It turned out neither of us was fulfilled by the other sexually.
The needed chemistry was missing sexually. We were mismatched. What one liked the other did not or it wasn't enough. And yet for sake of our beliefs we stayed together, miserable and had 3 kids.
I am late in life in another marriage, and all I can say now to my 3 daughters is to be sure to have sex before something final as marriage to make sure that they are compatible in that way. Its one thing to realize that there needs to be a friendship part too to a relationship but you need both. If its only friendship, or only sexual, the relationship doesnt stand much chance of surviving time. [ Dragonflymagic's advice column | Ask Dragonflymagic A Question ]

Some believe as long as you are in live and fully committed it is alright. If it makes you feel good to connect to the other person then do it. If you feel you aren't ready or want to wait, then the experience may have a different effect. It is all about what you want. You want it to be a good experience you will remember for the rest of your life. I had sex with my husband before marriage. It was the memorable experience of my life and I do not regret it for a second. [ Advicelady6798's advice column | Ask Advicelady6798 A Question ]

In most of the western world the majority of the brides today do not go to their marriage bed virgins. Women are marrying later in life and as such are enjoying a full sex life before marriage. Inherently modern society has come to accept this as part of the norm.
In the same vain society is happy to see that the average age that teenage women are losing their virginity is rising, which is a good thing. The number of teenage pregnancies is still too high. The number of teenagers no longer virgins at graduation from high school is upwards of 70%-80% a number most feel is too high.
This is somewhat of a conundrum in that as a society we accept premarital sex but only in certain situations and certain age groups.
At 17 you are most likely over the age of consent in your state. Meaning you legally can consent to having sex. Whether you have sex before marriage has to be you decision no one can make that decision for you. Of course if you have sex then your fiancé will see you naked.
Should you decide to have sex with your fiancé then I suggest before you do that you your gynecologist and get birth control medication. You are by law old enough to see a doctor on your own without parental knowledge or consent for matters of reproductive health. The law is a Federal Law called HIPPA. Because of this law you can ask for and be prescribed birth control medication without parental consent. You should also make sure your fiancé uses a condom as well until you are married and both of you have had blood tests. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
