Could unprotected sex cause hormonal symptoms?

Question Posted Friday August 2 2013, 4:18 pm

Ever since my period ended (started July 22), I've been having the weirdest symptoms. I did have unprotected sex with my husband. But it was only a few days after my period ended in the "safe zone", cycle day 7. I don't ovulate until next week (or so they say - 30 day cycles). But I've been having ovary pains, very light cramping, no discharge! (which is bizarre for me), headaches, slight stomach aches, armpit pain, and sore breasts. I feel like my hormones are out of wack. Could unprotected sex cause this? I don't know what else it would be. I don't get my period until Aug 19.

Yeah, pregnancy it one of them. Buy a pregnancy test for sure, but go to your doctor and ask about these symptoms you are experiencing. From my (very small) knowlage of this kind of thing, those are all pregnancy symptoms. congratulations! --hope I helped.

Yes, unprotected sex does cause hormonal changes. It is called being pregnant. Your symptoms; Ovary pain, light cramping, some discharge and sore breasts are all symptoms of pregnancy. You need to see your GYN to make sure this is a normal pregnancy and not an ectopic one.

Most of your symptoms are normal pregnancy symptoms. It is the armpit pain that is possibly abnormal. I'm not a doctor I cannot say for sure. All I did was some quick facts checking and that is one symptom that popped out at me.

I don't wish to scare you but if you are pregnant and it is an ectopic pregnancy it is a life threatening condition. You need to see your GYN ASAP and have your pregnancy confirmed and to see if it is a normal pregnancy.

Just for the record. Most women, about 80%, ovulate in the middle two weeks of their cycle. Just where in that two week cycle is different for every women. Seven days into a 21 day cycle could be you were into your ovulation window. Given that sperm live 3 days you may be pregnant.

Take a home test if you want. I really believe you need to schedule an appointment with your GYN ASAP. Tell the appointment secretary you may have an ectopic pregnancy. This will get you an immediate appointment.

There is no such thing as a "safe zone" if you had unprotected sex then there may be a chance your pregnant. I would take a test because the symptoms seem to add up.
