So I'm assuming you're a girl, and I'm guessing you might not like tampons. Honestly, I hate them. But hey, I do diving with out anything in when I'm on my period. Some girls say it stops when you get in the water, but really it just depends on the flow (light-you might be safe, heavy-wear a tampon!!). If you don't like putting in tampons, ask your mom to take you to really ANY store and get special 'personal lotion' for your tampons. It makes it much easier to put them in. Also, if you're small, or 'petite', try 'Tampax Pearl'- 'lites'. They are literally the smallest, skinniest tampons I can find anywhere. Hope I helped.

Well you can...but it's not recommended. If you don't, you'll most likely bleed through.

Wearing a pad won't be as helpful either. They do have menstrual cups but I don't know much about those. You'd had to look into that.

No, wear a tampon. Many agencies today are worried about blood born diseases. That will be an issue in any public place no matter what your age is. Someone can be a carrier of a disease but not have actually experienced it. SO its a health issue.

Besides, it would be horribly embarrassing to be seen with a red streak going down my leg.

It is not recommended especially in a community pool. You could bleed into the water forcing the closure of the pool. Using a sanitary napkin would be uncomfortable and could also cause you to leak into the pool.
