You could just come out and say you like him. But if you don't have the guts to do that right now that is totally understandable. If you don't want to tell him straight out you could trying just talking to him a little more, give him a light compliment(make sure it's not to heavy or you do it much cause that might scare him away!)and just be friendly at first.
