Is it possible for me to lose about 10kgs of extra chubbiness by eating healthy, no fast food or sugary drinks, going jogging and doing Wii Fit exercises?
I can't afford a gym membership until August or so but I want to get back into shape so this is my best shot.
Will it work? Any tips? :)
I believe that you do not need that GYM membership and can reach your goal in a short period of time.
You should do this research on your own, but here is why I say that you can lose the pounds, tone up and stay that way for the rest of your life.
According to research done in the last 35 years, your genetic background may play a serious factor in determining what foods you eat and what kind of physical exercise your body can and cannot handle. This information is steadily gaining credibility with public, but not so popular with institutional organizations like the International Sports Science Association, the American Heart Association and their affiliates.
In fact, there is evidence in mainstream media that blood types have everything to do with disease. The information has been and is being featured on many popular shows.
Sure, on the surface mainstream information seems to work for the population but it is a fact that it does not.
Here is Dr. Wallach talking about why an athlete has, on average, a shorter life span than your average couch potato. He gives examples of how some athletes die suddenly due to ignorance and following mainstream nutritional and athletic advice. These are guys that had personal trainers with certificates and degrees from highly accredited schools. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
So many people are starting to turn to this way of living because there is plenty of research and people experiencing it for us to recognize it as the best way to live.
On Dr. D'Adamo's site it is explained that "this is the first science that understands you as a biochemical individual."
I was going to post more for you to watch, but there are so many. I found many people vlogging how the diet helped them and even documenting their progress. Interestingly enough, out of the first 60 videos, I only found two that were against the information.
In my own experience and a decade of experiences with many other people, choosing your foods and physical activities based on your personal genetic background has changed peoples lives for the better, never for the worse. Anyone that has taken this information seriously, agrees that mainstream advice is not for everyone.
Almost all of the people I have helped had followed mainstream advice and ended up sick or seriously ill. I was one of those people that ended up seriously ill and almost died from listening to mainstream advice. Not once, but several times.
After that, I vowed to always pass on this super powerful information. You should know this information in order to decide for yourself what is best for YOU.
The keyword is YOU. Most mainstream information and expert advice has the general population in mind, not YOU as the individual. I encourage you to research everything out there to make your own choices. It is your life and you should be very well informed before going forward with anyone's advice. Mainstream or not.
So take this information and do what you will with it.
This link video will explain why I can look at someone, ask a few questions and know their blood type.
I will not tell you how to live your life, what meals to plan or when to eat. It is different for everyone because none of us is the same. What is good for me, may make you sick.
However, you can find advice regarding meal planning on the site that I have linked several times in this answer.
I can tell you from at least ten years of experience that this works for anyone who gives it a try for at least three months.
I am not now and nor have I ever claimed that this information is mainstream. Anyone that tells you I am making these claims is possibly trying to start trouble and should not be trusted.
Just to be very clear here, I am not claiming to be an expert trained by large institutions, nor have I am not have never claimed to be a real doctor.
What I do claim is ten years experience with eating and living by the information in this site. I have seen people with diabetes, on 7 shots a day almost eliminate the need for shots in just two weeks. I have witnessed people naturally lose weight just by following the advice of Dr. Peter D'Adamo.
Here is another link to this site that will tell why this is such a popular way to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight as well. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
I can give you links and tell you of all the experience I have had with this subject over the last ten years. I cannot even count all of the people I have seen try everything out there to lose pounds and get healthy only to plateau at a certain point. Then they take this information and transform their lives.
Everyone is genetically different, therefor their bodies process and react differently to the same foods.
It is impossible for me to give you advice on what and when to eat, how and what kinds of exercises you should be doing, unless I knew your ethnic background. Personally, I feel Giving you advice without knowing your background would be very irresponsible of me, even if I was certified with all the mainstream institutions.
Yes, I firmly believe that it is possible for you to lose 10kgs very quickly and very naturally. I believe that you will not need that GYM membership and still maintain your body's ideal weight. I believe this is possible because I have done it and have witnessed others do it many times.
There is a lot of good advice out there, and there is ignorant advice too. Like me, you must wade through the misinformation to get to the truth.
My advice is to research this on your own. I have given you the information. You are intelligent, and will see why it makes sense to know your genetic make-up before knowing what your body can handle.
If you are looking to tone up or use protein supplements you need to see this video!
I know Dr. D'Adamo has a lot of critics. But so has all the great explores of our world. How many critics did Christopher Columbus have when he claimed the world was round, not flat?
Having critics does not change the fact that the world is round and it certainly does not mean Dr. D'Adamo's research is wrong.
adviceman49 answered Saturday April 20 2013, 12:01 pm: Eating properly is always a good idea and does lead to wait loss if you do not over eat. Exercise in conjunction with eating properly should help you lose the weight you want and tone up those areas you wish to.
I know eating properly helps in losing weight as I have lost over 8 kgs doing so. I am disabled and exercise, including long walks is something I have not been able to do. I stopped eating junk food. Stopped eating meals after 7pm, switched from drinking soda multiple times a day and drink water almost exclusively except with my evening meal.
My snacks are of a healthy variety of which I generally have two a day along with 3 balanced meals. Two reason for the snacks are; one: I read that a balanced diet requires two snacks. One of which is between lunch and dinner the other after dinner. The second is to buffer medications I need to take.
Once you lose the weight you want to lose and go on a maintenance program you should allow yourself one day a week or month, you know yourself better than anyone so you chose what is right for you, to sort of pig out. On this day you allow yourself a fast food lunch or some other food or snack you have cut out as a reward for sticking to your diet.
Doing so won't harm your diet and you can adjust for the fast food intake or junk food over the next several days. When we deprive ourselves of things we crave we want them all the more. If you use them as a reward for yourself you are not truly depriving yourself so the craving is not there as much. You will also find after a while that you don't miss this stuff as much. You are very much on the right track... start by removing all the junk and empty calories. Then, aim to eat 5 or 6 times per day; this will help stabilise your blood sugar and help reduce unhealthy cravings. You should never be very full and never be very hungry. Basically after 3-4 hours you should be ready to eat again.
Most diets talk in terms of meals and snacks. This is not ideal. Snacks represent incomplete nutrition. Instead of snacking, eat a small balanced meal every 3 hours, which contains all the macronutrients. With this model you should not snack since it disrupts the digestive process and messes with your blood sugar. You will also find little need to "snack" when you eat often.
So, choose what you eat and how much you eat based on what you are about to do, not what you have just done. So, if you are to be active, eat a bit more, and eat slightly higher on carbs. If you are going to take a nap, eat something light and low on carbs.
Each meal should be balanced and based around a lean protein source.
Make sure you have some daily healthy fats, in particular a small dose of Omega 3, found in things like fish, walnuts, shrimps, flax, etc. You do not need a lot, but a deficiency in it can be harmful.
Another myth is the concept of not eating after a certain hour. This is counterproductive since your body always needs nutrition. If you do not provide this, it will digest your muscles, which is a bad thing. Your last meal should be about 1 hour before bed, but it should be very low on carbs and calories. E.g. 200g low fat cottage cheese and some olives or walnuts, or 100g chicken breast and some vegetables. The key is not to have your blood sugar drop or spike, but to always keep it in the ideal zone.
I can give you a formula for how to calculate quantities, but I think it is almost easier to play it by ear since your requirements will vary with your activity level. Basically, once you have cleaned your diet, adjust your total food intake so that you are losing 1-2 pounds a week. Ideally, weigh yourself once a week in very similar circumstances and at the same time of day (e.g. first thing in the morning).
Regarding exercise, pretty much everyone should do about 5 cardio workouts per week (these are steady pace workouts, preferable of over 30 mins duration, at a pace where you can still carry out a conversation). Jogging is a great cardio. If at all possible, do not jog on concrete since it can be hard on the joints. Jogging on dirt or grass is better if you can.
You can substitute one or two of these with a vigorous workout, like sports or interval training - just be careful if you are a beginner and make sure you do it right. E.g. interval training should not exceed 30 mins.
I am only slightly familiar with Wii Fit exercises, but what I have seen looked decent. Substitute those in as you see fit, but I really would recommend at least 3 regular, steady pace cardios for everyone - for the heart benefits and so on, not just the weight loss.
Lastly, do not try to do too much. Make gradual changes and think of them as lifestyle changes rather than short-term efforts. This will also ensure that the weight stays off and you remain healthy.
Good luck.
Now, this bit here is in anticipation of being contradicted by another columnist that has made a habit of following up my posts (please ignore this part if no such answer exists).
If another columnist contradicts what I said and points you in the direction of a theory of weight loss based on blood types, please keep in mind the following:
1. the blood type theory is not generally accepted. It is promoted by one doctor and faces a good deal of criticism (that columnist always makes a point not to mention this).
2. What I have told you is in line with the recommendations of the International Sports Science Association, the American Heart Association, Venice Nutrition, and many more recognised bodies. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
