While a 6 year difference in ages should not be a problem, my own in-laws, mom was 5 years older then dad. At your present age you can expect society to take a dim view.
I'm not even sure he is old enough to drive while you are not only old enough to drive you are also old enough to drink. This could put some limitations on where the two of you can go on dates. Last but not least his parents may take a dim view of you dating.
My suggestion is no mater how mature he may seem on line, he is not really mature enough for you to be dating. You should be looking for some one at least 21 years of age so you can both enjoy the same type of entertainment and dining. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]

To be honest, If you are looking for serious commitment you should be looking around your age anyway. You are not going to find that in someone who is only 17 years old. Be realistic [ Xui's advice column | Ask Xui A Question ]

But really, even if it legal for you to have sex with him, do you really want to date a teenager? You're even calling him a kid.. Just tell him you aren't comfortable with the age difference. It's okay to turn someone down. [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]
