Is she too old for me?

Question Posted Thursday November 8 2012, 8:49 pm

I'm a girl and I like this other girl at my school. She's a senior and I'm a sophomore. 15(almost 16) to be exact. She's 18. I'm not sure if she's too old for me because I've heard that liking her is a lost cause.

The age difference isn't that big of a deal. People could be saying that "liking her is a lost cause" probably because of her personality, her "type" when choosing boys/girls, etc. Don't give up but on the other hand, keep that piece of advice in the back of your head. It will help prevent you from getting crushed later on down the road if things don't work out.

When I was 16, I dated an 18 yr old... when I was 17 I dated a 21 yr old... She's not really too old for you. She may still be a lost cause, though. Girls can be very inaccessable.

Give it a try. Just don't be crushed if it doesn't work. There's never harm in trying something, so long as you're prepared to deal with the setback if it fails.

Dream big and live your dreams. ^_^

Quite apart from the ethics, I'd say based on observation and experience if you're planning on dating an 18yo at nearly 16 you're going to have to really go some to keep her interested! Still, fortune favours the brave they say...so you can give it a go. At 16, most girls of 18 would have eaten me alive. If you can handle the answer, be it yes or no...ask her. You only live once. Good luck old chap!!

Think of it this way, if it was the other way around. Would you date a girl that was 12? That's 3 years younger than you. You are 3 years younger than her. It is a big difference if you think about it. Do what you feel is right. She is an adult though, you are still a minor. Be careful about the choices you make with her.
