Xui answered Wednesday August 1 2012, 1:05 pm: I would always make sure she has a cellphone but I would monitor it, This does not mean she can have a cellphone SHE wants. As long as the phone does the job to stay in contact when she is out somewhere then there ya go. If I were her parent, I'd buy her a track phone or a phone that has no texting service on it and no camera. Seeing she has misused her cellphone I would buy her a simple phone that only has minutes to call when needed.
I completely agree with Flare, If she can't use a cellphone properly then she shouldn't even have one. Sending photos like that is not only very inappropriate but the person she is sending photo's too is in possession of child pornography if she is under the age of 18. The I am thinking of may not be available, you will have to ask you cellular carrier, if they have a simple cell phone only available. One that does not take pictures or send text message. These phones are usually available as phones to the indigent as 911 phones but may be available to you as a child phone. This phone allows you and she to communicate and nothing else.
You need to stop her from having the ability to send the kind of pictures she is ending for they are illegal regardless of her age. In fact even though they are pictures of herself it is child pornography the sending of which is illegal.
She and you as owner of the phone in many states can be charged with distribution. The receiver and his parents, if they own the phone, can be charged with possession and distribution if he passes them on. Social websites such as facebook and google are cooperating with Police and the FBI to crack down on this type of crime.
They are not just doing so to criminalize what children are doing as they think of as fun. But to protect them from sexual predators that lurk on social websites just looking for this type of child porn and then friending your child.

Like the responder below suggests, try to block picture messages if you feel that she needs a phone to tell you where she is, etc. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
fortylove answered Wednesday August 1 2012, 1:45 am: Depending on your carrier, you can block picture messaging, call your phone carrier and ask them about it.
And I wouldn't do it because shes abusing the privilege of having a cell phone. She's underage and could get in a lot of trouble for these pictures as well as damage her reputation. Its important to make sure that she understands the repercussions. [ fortylove's advice column | Ask fortylove A Question ]
