Audition for a musical

Question Posted Sunday July 8 2012, 4:01 pm

Is the song " A dream is a wish your heart makes" a good song choice for auditioning for a musical? I'm having trouble finding a great song. I'm a high alto, so any suggestions would be awesome!

Depending on what play you're doing you can sing any kind of song. If you obviously feel like singing that song go for it. I'm a high alto also, and I sing any kind of songs when I audition. Just make sure yu don't mes up, but either way you'll do great. The song listed below are good choices.

It's tough to say, considering everyoooone knows that song. Make one little mistake and everybody would know. It certainly is a simple, beautiful song, and good for your range! It just depends on whether or not you're willing to fill in Cinderella's big shoes, no pun intended (xD).

If you wanna go a different route, I have some suggestions. I too am an alto. :D Otherwise, it's a good song, and I wish you the best of luck!

Here's some other great songs. You can look these up on Youtube (I'd give you the links, but I'm not sure if we're allowed to give links in our answers ><; ):

On my Own from Les Miserables

I Won't Say I'm in Love from Hercules

I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables

Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (If you kick it up an octave xD)

Defying Gravity from Wicked

Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty

I Can Hear the Bells from Hairspray

When Will my Life Begin from Tangled

Stay Awake from Mary Poppins

You're Already Home from The Wizard of Oz ([Andrew Lloyd Webber ver.] It's a tad on the high side, but it's very powerful C: )

That's about all I can think of for now, unfortunately. Best of luck! :3
