Facebook Question: facebook won't let me log into my account without a mobile number and verification code

Question Posted Wednesday February 29 2012, 6:02 pm

So yeah, facebook won't let me log into my account. They are trying to make me enter a mobile number to get a verification code.... The problem is I don't have a mobile phone nor do I want to buy one so facebook can sell the number to third party sources.... How can I get around the securiy check? Thanks for the help, in advance. BTW I need this info ASAP so I can delete the account.

It doesnt sell your number. Its just security to make sure no one is hacking your account under your security settings you can have it so you dont have to do this. if you cant get to your security setting your may have to delete and create another one.

No Zane, there's a new Facebook policy that at times tells a Facebook user to enter a mobile number to access account. The purpose is so that a user does not have multiple accounts.

-----
You could ask a friend to use their phone.
I've found that if you put a number on an account under that prompt then delete the number, wait a week, it sometimes lets you use the number again for another account.
I don't know if I can really help. I have another mobile phone I haven't activated, I could give you that number but I just moved and I will have to search through my things so let me know for a last resort. I'm willing to help.

Facebook will never ask for your mobile number unless you are answering the security questions to recover a hacked account.

I would advise that you hit the "Forgot Password" during the loge in and go through the security settings where you can enter your email, facebook page name and enlist 2 friends that are currently on your facebook. After you successfully answer the security questions facebook will send you an email with a password reset code. Do not enter your mobile number because like you said it can get out to third party resources. Also, With today's privacy concerns I trust no one.....Not even facebook.
