Does he like me or is this because of closeness?

Question Posted Saturday January 7 2012, 12:36 pm

This person makes me feel like he likes me but I'm confused because I'm not sure if he likes me or does he act this way because of our closeness.

I have this guy friend. We're very close but we often fight.
He's very sweet, biased, and thoughtful when it comes to me.

I think he likes me because..

1. He likes playing with my hair and writing things on my back using his finger.
2. He overreacts when I get mad at him.
3. He randomly hugs me.

Wait but there are more. :(

There are times when I tease my friend about being in a relationship with him and he goes like... I'll rather date (my name).

He really likes playing with my hair he also likes drawing at my back when there are classes. The teachers even caught him.

When my friends tease us he doesn't react.

He says a lot of sweet stuffs and when we play games he always choses me. Like who would you give your most special treasure? ...

He makes sure he talks to me and he gets mad when I don't talk to him.

He gets emo when I don't talk to him. It's like his mood changes.

He also randomly hugs me and there was a time I hugged him and he wanted me to hug him again.

Our eyes usually meet and there are a lot of times I think he is looking at me.

I'm really confused. Does he like me or are we just really close? :(

This is quite similar to me and my best friend right now. He told me though that he doesn't want a girlfriend right now (just in convo) and I'm happy being single but I'd be happy in a relationship too. Though all of the people we work with tell me he wants a gf more than anything... Hmm.

Anyway, I think that if it did come about you (and me haha) should be very careful, i hate hearing people say 'it'll ruin your friendship!' but it is so true :( just make sure that you want to be in a relationship with him more than you want to be just friends. I'm still unsure what I want to do! You could always try subtly saying stuff like 'I hate being single!' and see how he reacts? From where I'm sat if yon stay friends you'll always have he what if. But if your in a relly and it doesn't work then you won't be as good friends 9/10 times.

I hope you make a good decision and are really happy whatever happens :)

I was in a situation like this a few years ago. It's actually how I ended up with my first bf. Then, I realized that I did only like him as a good friend and our closeness. When people are friendships like this, it's hard to tell where the friendship ends and more begins. It can go either way. If it's really bothering you about knowing, just bring it up casually and see he reacts. Just remember that if you end in a relationship with him and you break up, it puts your friendship in a VERY awkward stage that might not ever recover. Good luck :)
