to start with they are yanking on your teeth. pain is part of the process
i have had braces for nearly 2 years and can tell you it will get easier,
i take pain killers 10 minutes before a tightening appointment
i brush my teeth with sensitive toothpaste
i eat soft foods for 3 days after a tightening
i floss often (3 times a day)
i rinse my mouth often (3 times a day)
i eat with plastic cutlery
use wax to prevent canker sores and keep a countdown calendar - the treatment time are normally discussed on the initial consult.
good luck :)

I remember when I got my braces on. I got them the day before Easter and on Easter I could only eat applesauce because they hurt so much!!! :( I took Motrin the whole first week. They do kill initially but I promise you in a week they'll stop hurting. They will become a part of your mouth. As for getting them tightened, that never hurts nearly as much as when you first get them on. It might hurt a little and specific teeth may hurt, but it won't be as painful as the first week. Good luck! Braces are no fun :(

Ahhh braces are always a chore! Don't worry though, they'll start feeling better in about 5 days. After two weeks you'll be completely fine :). Getting them tightened will cause some discomfort, but that'll go away with in a couple of hours.

Hope I helped :)!

Yes, I have had the same situation.. I felt sick and etc..It will only hurt for a few days.. try dental wax.. that helped me a lot when I had my braces. When you get them tightened they are going to hurt for the first day or so, depending how much you're teeth need to work to be straight.

Just think of the smile you will have once you have them off! :)
