People loving God, Evolution, or both?

Question Posted Wednesday September 7 2011, 5:23 pm

Is their really no such thing as believing in God and Evolution??? Really? Am I the only one? I mean everyone I tell this too gives me crap about how there's no such thing. In my perfect ideal mind, God is not discriminative against gays, bi's or lesbians, skin color, or form of religion. He created the world (well, more like lives amongst the universe) as is and created it to change and shift forms along with the products living among it. Animals are just as important as human beings and God loves and is not to be feared.

My parents are Catholic maniacs and their ways of thinking and belief are just not the kinds of things I belive and feel are truely correct. If their God is the real God I may as well be down in hell right now! I mean what the heck? Is there anyone out there who sees things the way I do?

Yes my friend! I am non religious, my parents are Christian. I believe in god and evolution, god created things and these things evolve. He made everything complex so that we can live and unlock our free minds. If we were to know every secret in the universe and understand things beyond our imagination, what would be the point in living? He created an infinite infiniti for us to infinitely explore. Nothing is impossible. I have many beliefs of possible "God" explanations. From the micro to the macro, we're all born to expore our inner Quantum Creator. The soul is enrgy that can't be destroyed, there's no good and there's no evil. We live on before and after our physical vessel stops working. Time is a concept, points remain. Those points go in and out of infinite direction to the point where direction doesn't exist and neither does time. But it all exists while not existing. Its Infinity that has an end but has no end, at the same time but not at the same time. know thyself

I think you're confusing fear of God to mean something bad. For a while I struggled in my faith because I had the same question... if God wants a relationship with us why would he want us to fear Him? After all, isn't He a loving Father? Well I prayed on it for a while and didn't seem to get an answer, but one day it just came to me. God doesn't want us to be afraid OF Him, but He wants us to be afraid of being WITHOUT Him. God was so horrified at the thought of not being with us that He died as a human being for us... and lived among us.
As for discrimination, God loves everyone equally- even when they don't love Him back. I personally believe that gay marriage is wrong but I am not a bigot, as I have many gay/bi friends. It's more about marriage than it is about orientation when you think about it. I still struggle with this issue myself but I trust that there's a reason.
Also, I don't see how evolution conflicts with religion. Science & religion are complementary. Religion and spirituality explain WHY things happen & science explains HOW. Science is merely the means God uses to establish His universe.
As a side note, don't let your parents ruin your view of Catholicism. I've seen that happen too much. I, myself, am a Catholic and I recognize that the church is wounded but there is corruption in any organization, so pray on it and be patient before making any major decisions. Ask God to guide you and place someone in your path who might help you understand.

I truly hope I helped, I will keep you in my prayers! God bless :)

I definitely have the same beliefs as you. I feel that God would accept everything they way it is. If the Bible says to love your enemy and the world and stuff, then it should be as such. I don't understand why people think that God would disgrace gays or skin color or something like that. I feel that some of what the Bible says conflicts with what God is. And through the thousands of years of its existence, the Bible may have been altered slightly to make God seem like he is scary if you don't follow him.

There is definitely a way to believe in both, even if they seem to conflict a little with one another. The thing is, I don't think we'll ever find out for certain how we got here; it's not like we can ask God, and it's not like we can go back two million years to see where we started out. It's perfectly normal to admit that there's truth in both sides of the story, and a compromise would probably make the most sense.

Oh, and if you ever feel a little down because of the parents...Just sing Born This Way by Lady Gaga a couple times to yourself. It does wonders. :D

I'm not the most religious person in the world either. At best I am an agnostic. What I believe is what I believe and if people don't agree with me, well that is there problem not mine.

Like you I believe that we are all one. In the Bible it says someplace that we are all made in gods image. To me that includes people of all color, and sexual preference.

I believe we should all have the right to believe as we want too as this is why we have free will. This is also why we are fighting a war in Iraq and Afghanistan now against Religious fanatics and there goal to rule the world under their religious beliefs.

These are my thoughts and I am entitled to them just as you are entitled to yours. While you live under your parents roof they will try to change you to believe as they do. They really have no right to do so. They believe the right to do so comes with parenting.
