i want to know why i can't seem to lose weight! it's been a month already. i've controlled my portions, i've cut out sweets, sodas, etc. (i'm asian, so we mostly eat rice and noodles, but i've been watching my intake on that too), i do an hour of cardio/lift weights 6/7 days a week. i don't know what i seem to be doing wrong, i would think i would've lost at least like, 5lbs by now but i don't see any physical results! what am i doing wrong?

A month is not long enough to give up. Keep at it and you will see results. You are doing a great job because diets and workout routines are sOOOO hard to stick to. Just remember if you lose weight to much to quickly the chances of it coming right back are great. So take your time. Slow motion is better than no motion. My rule of thumb is that you should notice a difference within 3 months time. Do not be discouraged. You can do this. [ Never2bAlone's advice column | Ask Never2bAlone A Question ]

I'm not saying that any one food will stall weight loss, but you need protein.
Pook answered Thursday July 7 2011, 8:08 am: This could be due to a variety of reasons, however it all comes down to simple maths: if your calories in is euqual to your calories out then you will not lose weight.
You should work out your daily Base Metabolic Rate (the number of calories your body burns just to keep you alive) - there are various calculators online - and eat that many calories per day. Then, any exercise you do will contribute to weight loss. A 500 calorie per day deficit equals 1 pound lost per week.
If you want to see a big drop quickly, reduce your carbs (i.e. your rice and noodles) or even cut them out completely, and you will see a 1-2lb drop in the space of a week, maybe more. Consider keeping a diary of exactly what you are eating for a week - there may be things that you are eating that you forget about.
Also remember that exercise & weight training increases your appetite so perhaps you are overcompensating for your workouts at dinner time. [ Pook's advice column | Ask Pook A Question ]
