What's a liberal and what's a communist?

Question Posted Friday July 1 2011, 4:26 pm

What's a liberal and a comunist? And what's the diff between a democrat and republican? And is Prez. Obama a republican or a democrat. I'm 13 so can you explain it without all the confusing politics words? I skipped a few grades and I'll be taking a placement test in august that'll have some social studies and American history sections so I think it'll be good to know a little more about some if this stuff. Thanks a ton guys. :)

You have three answers to your question the best is Gunners but may be too in depth for your question. I will try to generalize this a bit more to make it easier to understand.

Democrats: A political party generally seen as being liberal in their form of governing to the point of almost being socialistic. They believe in big government, high taxes and government that provides almost everything for their constituents. The Democrats believe in a strong welfare system and a small military. They believe diplomacy will win out over all. Yet President Clinton, who down sized the military by half and the current President as well as the last President, have all been very free in their use of our military forces.

Democrats do not support the second amendment, the do support Abortion rights. Some say that Democrats do not support the IX and X Amendments to the Constitution. This is something I personally am not sure about.

Republicans: A political party that as a whole does not believe government should be all things to all people. They do not support a welfare system as do the Democrats. They see the welfare system currently in place as a forerunner to a socialistic society where the government does provide all things to all its people. Republicans believe in a strong military, as in walk softly but carry a big stick. They do not support Abortion Rights, they believe in big government. They believe in low taxes and Fiscal Responsibility. They believe big business should generate growth and jobs not a big government.

President Obama: is a Democrat

Communism:In its truest form Communism is a classless system of government where everyone works for the betterment of the state and the state takes care of everyone. There should be no unemployment and everyone should not do without. Everyone is equal.

Unfortunately human greed, jealousy and desire confound the ability of true communism. The Russian form of Communism which fell during President Reagan's era was at the very leas a 2 class system. China another Communistic state is becoming somewhat of a capitalist communist state. Cuba is still like the old Russia maybe even a little more intolerant than the old Russia was.

Your question touches on a wonderful subject for which you should take the time to do more of your own research. History in general can be fascinating. Many of us when we where your age did not see the reason fro having to study history, why it was important or even how we would ever use it.

As an adult nearing retirement age I can't tell you how many times over the years I have ended up in conversations where history has come up or how important it was to finding an answer to a problem.

I would suggest that between now and the time you take the placement test you do some of your own research on the subject.

the best way to sum up a liberal would be to paraphrase "theories of international politics and Zombies" by Daniel w drezner.
a classical liberal believes that cooperation is still possible in a world of complete anarchy. they believe that through compromise and diplomacy, you can cooperate with others to produce a greater good for all parties ie: nuclear weapons treaties. A Liberal, as the word is commonly used today, is somebody who is left-wing, meaning that their policies tend to be things like the failed equal rights ammendment, legal abortions, gender and racial equality.

A Democrat is a form of liberal in the classical sense of the word. they believe in a strong federal government(ie: they don't like the 9th and 10th ammendments very much), that supplies numerous goods and services for its people examples of those services being social security, medicaid, medicare, welfare, and low-income housing(helping poor people pay their rent).
Democrats can range from the centrist Senator Joe leiberman(change things slowly over time) to the more radical Representative Nancy Pelosi(Change things NOW!).
President Obama is a democrat. according to some, he is a centrist, while others claim he is a radical. truth be told, he's probably somewhere in between.

Republicans are a type of liberal(again in the classical sense of the word) that believe in a small Federal government that does not interfere with it's citizens and their daily lives(they don't like welfare very much). economically, they usually prefer to keep taxes low, and allow businesses in the American market to conduct themselves freely. The military is a big deal to them, as they believe that the best defense is a strong offense. They are Pro-life(against legal abortions). Just like the Democrats, there are two sides of the republican party. the centrists, like Senator John McCain, are very similar to their democrat counterparts. While the more extreme right-wing conservatives are set upon returning The United States to a "more happy time" in which evolution was not taught in schools, and religion was once again a daily presence in the American way of life. to give you a better picture of their ideal society, I suggest watching "leave it to beaver" on TV Land.

Before 2001, the usual military pattern of both parties was that the Republicans would build up military power, but hardly ever use it. then the democrats would take power, cut defense spending, and deploy the military all over the world. For example- Clinton cut the military literally in half, reducing the army from 900,000 to 400,000 and the navy from 500 ships to 350. he then deployed them to 87 different countries over the course of his eight year term.
over the past 11 years, the trend has gone a little haywire. President Bush did a global death blossom, while increasing defense and war spending to ridiculous levels, then President Obama followed through with a surge of his own. this last paragraph wasn't really relevant, but I find it fascinating.

now, for the last group- Communists.
Karl Marx wrote "the Communist Manifesto" during the nineteenth century. this is extremely important, because without the industrial revolution, communism would never exist. during that time period, factory owners were getting rich by turning the regular joes into what amounts to slaves. the workers(marx calls them "the Proletariat") were being paid pennies a day to do 12-16 hours of dangerous backbreaking labor while the owners ( termed "the Bourgeoise") lived in massive summer homes in the Hamptons and Newport living high on the horse. how high, you ask? [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
that high.

so Karl came up with an interesting idea- The workers have the power. without them, the factory owners and industrialists would not make any money.
in theory, the workers overthrow their masters, and take the factories for themselves. nobody owns the factory, because everybody owns the factory. in pure communism, there is no such thing as owning something. everything belongs to the people. everyone is equal, and nobody gets left behind.
in theory, its all fine and dandy. in practice, its totally insane. I suggest you read "animal Farm" by Orwell. that book can explain better than I ever could why communism doesn't work. But, if I may sum it up, Communism does not take into account that people, while generally good, are all greedy, posessive, and jealous people.

hope that helped.
-Gunner

Dear 13,

While the answer you have gotten so far, is close to being the truth, it is not telling you the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Republican and democrats, socialist and conservatives, witless or not, are all being run by the same puppet master.

They claim to be on opposite sides, but in reality they have the same boss.

The name of a class of people is important in recognizing the different actions of each party. There is one important thing you must know, any politician that is a Freemason, has signed their allegiance to the brotherhood of their masonry.

A Freemason takes an oath to the clan, and it overrides all others. The President is
a classic example of someone who is taking orders from his Masonic Leaders, not the American People. You see, your sheriff is probably a Freemason, that means his masonic oath overrides his Oath to the American People.

Check out this Oath taken by the Knights of Columbus. It is disturbing to anyone who believes in the life and works of Christ.

Here is link to some important information. You are thirteen years old and exactly where they want you. Ignorant of the truth.

Here is the truth. Spread it around and stand up for your right to live in a peaceful world, full of beauty and abundance.

Please take some time to get informed. Your parents were tricked into handing you over the United States. Not once, but at least three times if you have a birth certificate, a social security number, and have ever been registered in public school. The registration of a child at birth hands over legal rights of the child to the state it was born (meaning you have no civil rights your parents handed them over at birth). A social security number is also known a Social Insurance Number (a SIN)and is a contract the binds you to the Federal Government as an employee and turns you into the responsible party
of a foreign corporation with the same name your parents gave you. When you are registered with a public school, it is the same as a birth registration. All rights are handed over to the school.

You are not an American.

If you were born here, you are a native to America, a Native American so to speak. If you were born here but were registered with the USA you are not an American. You are a US Citizen. I am almost 4 times you age.I have done my research on the US government. Let my knowledge be your reality check. Ask your parents what they know about contracts with the beast, er I mean the devil, er I mean the United States Government.

Ask your parents if they realize that everyone who does business with a social security number is doing business as a foreign corporation. Ask them if they realize that the IRS tax code is simply the law that regulates foreign commerce within the borders of our country.

So, when your parents use their social security number for anything, they are bound by the IRS tax code, that regulates their foreign affairs, to forfiet any monies, property, and life that the USA tells them to Forfiet. The Social Security contract that you are illegally entered into by your parents can be annuled. the birth certificate and registrations too.

I know this sounds crazy, it did to me too, at first. Until I did my resaerch and found more than what I was looking for.

I hope this helps your inquiring mind want to know more!!

Good Luck!!

Doktor Tammy

A liberal is a person who is more open to new ideas, and feels like things should always be changing, where a conservative is someone who thinks people should stick to tradition, and not change too much.

A communist is a person who thinks society will be more fair if there isn't private wealth, and more things are shared between all the citizens. They feel companies shouldn't be owned by a person, but by the government, so that profits can be split equally between all the workers. The opposite of a communist is a capitalist, who thinks that society runs better if people can have private wealth. They think that the competition stimulates society, and that all will benefit because the wealth will trickle down from the very rich to the very poor. A socialist is a person who is kind of in the middle (although some people would say socialists are more communist), and feels that it is good to have some private property, but for the most part, a nation of people should share what they have with eachother.
President Obama is a Democrat. Democrats tend to be more socialist; they tend to want to give more to the poor, and they tend to be more liberal. Republicans (sometimes called GOP, which means "Grand Ol' Party") tend to be more conservative, and they typically think that making things easier for the big businessmen will benefit all people in the country because the businessmen will hire more people and give them more money.
Another way people describe political stances is "right" and "left." A person on the right is usually someone who is more likely to want war, more conservative, more capitalistic, and a person on the left is usually less willing to go to war, more liberal, and more socialist. Lately, people have been using the term "centrist" to describe someone who is kind of in the middle, or who may go to the left when it comes to war, but to the right when it comes to being conservative.
Hope that helped...
