you gotta just be yourself. I promise you that if you be yourself, you'll have friends who like you for YOU.. it will save you a TON of high school drama!
One time I found a group of friends I liked and acted just like them in order for them to like me. After a few months of being with them, I started to loosen up and act more like myself. Next thing I know, all hell breaks loose and there's tons of drama.
My point is, If you act yourself and let friends come to you, it will save you a ton of drama and you'll find friends who are loyal and worth keeping :) trust me i know what i'm talking about.
just be friendly, smile, be yourself, be social, don't be shy they wont bite. oh and don't make too big of an effort. It should be easy and natural. Don't try so hard :) [ lovealways1221's advice column | Ask lovealways1221 A Question ]

Pretty often when you join a school, you'll know which 'group' you fit into straight away. I'm 15 and i'm pretty shy-and when my (now bestfriend) moved to my school she knew straight away where she belonged.
Firstly, I'd take a step back and think 'Which group do I honestly belong to' Sadly, you can't escape cliques in any high school.
If you're talking about how to make friends before high school, heres a great tip: You could organise and end of term party say at your house. Sure, some people you dislike might be there, but then again its great to make new friends.
Also, pay people compliments every now and then like say 'hey, i like your top' It's fine if you're new because people don't know you yet-so it's your chance to make a great first impression. Seriously, just by going up to a group of people and saying 'hey, can i like hand out with you' actually works!
Good luck :) [ kittenlover2000's advice column | Ask kittenlover2000 A Question ]
