Controlling mum

Question Posted Sunday May 1 2011, 12:05 pm

My mum and dad are so controlling.
I'm fifteen years old and they wont let me out on my own. When I went on dates with me ex, they only let me go out for two hours.
How can i make them less controlling?

I grew up with an overbearing father, and he was very strict. I think your parents are just being protective. If you want more freedom, then you need to prove to them that you can be responsible. They only want what is best for you. Sit down and ask them if they are willing to let you have a little more freedom. A good start would be by asking for a longer curfew. If they do not bend, then ask them what you can do on your part to earn more freedom.

Demonstrating to them that you're responsible. Get good grades in school and don't hang out with chavs/douchebags.

There are a lot of parents like that. You just need to earn their trust. You can't blame them though, you know about a lot of things that happen in this world. Two hours isn't too bad for a date anyway. There are some parents who won't even let that.
Anyway, I think you should try talking to them or just find ways to earn their trust. Good luck!

you have to prove yourself and earn their trust.
