How come it is okay to kill an unborn child but not any other human being?

Question Posted Friday April 22 2011, 11:36 pm

Hi. just looking for some comments on this subject. Can anyone tell me why it is okay, to kill an unborn CHILD. But it is NOT okay to kill ANY other human being. there was a question talking about a doctor giving a young lady pills to "slow" the BABY's HEART rate down. then do the abortion. if a doctor was to give these pills to lets say, a 60 year old. or whoever that would be considered MURDER. I simply do not understand this. You know the bible says, that there will become a time when wrong will become right and right will become wrong. ladies and gentlemen I have found that we are in that time. With little kids for Gods sake having sex making babys when they are just babies theirselfs then saying I dont want this child then KILLING the child! My God have we went away from the word of God and God himself. But my question for you all is simply this. Why is it okay to kill an unborn child but not any other human being?

Yeah, in my opinion, its either completely ok. OR all wrong. My reason: If a man and woman go an entire life without having children, they have literally killed millions of unborn humans. Sperm & eggs are not unlimited, if not all are used, its basically killing an unborn human. By the time a woman could have a human child, she has about 300,000 eggs and men have millions of sperm. If you only have 3 kids then die, you killed hunderds of thousands of eggs because you didn't have hunderds of thousands of kids. Even if you have a human child every year. You'll still kill unborn things.

Hi, I would just like to comment on NinjaNeer. He/she quoted the 'judge not that you may not be judged' scripture. Now this verse applies to the matters of the heart. As christians we can't judge the heart of other christians or people only God can. Because

'man looks at the outward appearence but God looks at the heart' 1st Samuel 16:7
so we can't and mustn't judge the heart.
When it comes to matters of action, right or wrong where facts are clear, like in abortion, where the Bible categorically states that abortion is wrong then as Christians we must speak up because God has condemed it.
Ofcourse evrybody has the right to do what they want according to the laws of the land and it wasn't right for the protesters to harass the couple no matter the reasons. That was wrong and its also wrong to harass those who choose to abort willingly. But as christians we must speak against abortion BUT NOT harass others. Absolutely not harass.

So the person who asked the question.. Yes we have gone from the word of God this days and we call good evil and evil good. And no its not okay to kill unborn children, its murder same as killing a 60 year old. Speaking up and judging actions and facts isn't wrong just don't judge the heart, leave that to God.

1st Cor 6:2
don't you know that God's people will judge the world?

Hi, I'm old enough to be your grandfather; hopefully the wisdom that comes with age and life experiences will be helpful.

You have asked a question for which we have yet to find an answer too. For the moment the law says that under certain conditions abortion is legal and therefore not murder.

Those conditions hinge on another question; which is when does life truly begin? Does life begin at conception? Does life begin when the fetus is capable of living outside the mothers womb?

With today's advances in medicine doctors are able to shorten the period by which a fetus must stay in the womb before they can keep it a live outside the womb. Once a fetus is able to leave the womb and survive it becomes a human being in the eyes of today's law.

The debate on this issue can and has torn families apart. People have been prosecuted for killing babies in the womb when they have been responsible for killing the mother. This has caused new law to be made and challenged.

At this time and until the lawyers, Theologians and the scholars can agree on this issue there will not be a simple answer to this question. You have to choose what you feel is the right answer for you. Is it the right answer for your friend; that is up to your friend.

As in everything else in life we must do what is write for ourselves and our families. That is all anyone can ever ask of us. We must obey the laws of the land and for ourselves obey the laws of our god as we worship our god.

The laws of our land do not allow us to force our beliefs upon others. This is called freedom. You have a right to believe what you believe and others have their right to believe what they wish to believe. As long as we remain within the laws of the land we can peacefully coexist. It is also your right, within the law,to work to change the law. If this is something you feel the need to do, then I suggest you become active in causes that work to change the laws within the framework of our laws.

This is probably not the answer you are looking for. As I said are freedoms give us the choice to believe as we wish in the framework of our laws. You believe abortion is wrong, so for you that is what it is. That is your right under our laws.

I tried very hard to stay neutral in my answer to you, so that you understand it is okay to feel as you do. Just because a law says it is lawful does not mean you have to fully in agreement.

A short of lame example would be; the speed limit on the highway is 75 mph. You are not comfortable going that fast so you slow down to 65 mph are you wrong for doing so? No, the speed laws allow for this and even slower speeds if conditions warrant. This is called freedom to choose.

Not exactly the same thing but a good example of the fact that unlike other countries around the world. We have the right to and the choice to disagree with laws that we think are wrong; in some cases these laws give us a chance to choose for ourselves how we wish to comply.

Hopefully I have helped you somewhat. If I haven't I apologize. If you write back and tell me where you would like me to clarify I will try to do so.

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." Luke 6:37, NIV

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye." Matthew 7:3-5, NIV

Last I checked, that's what the Bible says. And I'm an atheist, too. I just think there are some good things said in that book that are most often needed the people who use it as a weapon of judgment and fear.

The first passage I included because even though it's one of the best-known and often quoted passages of the Bible, you seem to have forgotten it momentarily. By this book, which you seem to have taken as your set of guidelines, you are told not to judge others because it is not your place. Only God can judge people for their actions, because only God knows the whole story.

Just think of the video I saw recently in which protesters outside an abortion clinic harassed a couple who were entering. They were judging the actions of that couple without knowing that the abortion was a medical emergency and that the baby had been wanted and loved. What is to stop them from judging a rape victim, an incest victim, or a woman who may die from childbirth? Or someone who would suffer more by carrying out a pregnancy than by giving up a part of herself? You don't know how those people feel. You don't know how all the millions of puzzle pieces in their lives fit together. Only God does, and only God can judge them. If you get all uppity and start passing out judgments, it's going to come down on your head.

I included the second passage because it illustrates a great point. You're too busy pointing out the flaws of others to look at yourself and find your own. Yes, we all have sawdust in our eyes. We all have our weaknesses. You have the plank of judgment in yours, and until you remove it we'll all have a lot of trouble allowing you to continue to point out our sawdust. It's a lot easier to see others' flaws and wrongdoings than our own. That's the lesson that I get from that passage. But again, I'm just a heathen atheist with an unhealthy enjoyment for reading interesting books. I'm sure you know better what all this means.

Taking the Bible literally means taking the whole Bible literally, not just the pointy parts you can wield as weapons. That means you have to agree with the parts where you stone disobedient children to death, as well as the parts where Jesus came to save us all. The Bible was written a couple thousand years ago by people. If you believe in that sort of thing, God had a hand in it... inspiration, maybe, but didn't actually dip a quill in ink and start scribbling. People wrote that book, and people influenced its content. It was relevant back then. It was just like any law book today, except far more interesting and with heftier penalties (like eternal damnation).

You are right. We are in the time where wrong has become right and right has become wrong. It is right to accept people of all races, nationalities, orientations and genders. It is right to value all human lives as equal. And it is wrong to own slaves, to beat them, to beat women, to kill people for relatively minor transgressions. We live in a time where tolerance and equality rule. Things that were wrong 2000 years ago are right now, and that's not necessarily a negative thing.

WittyUsernameHere answered Saturday April 23 2011, 1:17 am:
There is nothing in any law anywhere in the world where it is stated that one person must sustain another persons life by giving up their body or life to do so. We cannot take kidney transplants from people with two healthy kidneys because another will die without one of them without the original owners consent. We recognize the full rights of each person to their own body.

Prior to birth a fetus is incapable of sustaining its own life. Legally speaking, no one has the right to force any woman to endure a pregnancy. It is the woman's right to that choice which is the foundation for current law. Medical abortions exist because, simply put, we have the technology to do it and if we didn't provide then desperate women would die taking chances they didn't need to.

You should read the history of abortions. Illegal unlicensed doctors performing black market medical procedures for women who saw no other way out. Providing it legally is better than the alternative.

That's the legal side.

On the moral side, some people don't believe in God. Some people don't believe that choosing not to be a parent is a monstrous choice to make. Some people think life begins after birth. Some people just believe that no one should have to endure a pregnancy unwillfully.

Personally, I think adoption is a more appealing choice. Abortion is an ugly thing. So is most of the rest of the world. But nothing about my perceptions of it give me the right to tell a woman she has to spend 9 months pregnant. God doesn't really enter into it. God does not run the US. Nor any other country except the Vatican.

b/c some people have problems that others dont. The baby may be having some problem with it's heart but I dont kno. And the whole 'it is considerd murder' thing is wrong b/c people get abortions all the time. People have DEFINATELY strayed from His word. As long as you stick to the word of God then His children will be rewarded. :D
Hope I helped!!

Neither of those things are okay! An unborn child is already considered a human being so its pretty much the same and for my opinion they're both considered murder.
And yes, these days, sex is becoming more fun, more creative, more pleasurable (excuse my language) and some teens are just not thinking well enough, some people thinks its cool to have sex so they do it to fit in or probably for other many reasons.
