Hey everyone, 23/f here.
Okay, so I'm trying to be open to all suggestions as far as treating/managing/dealing with this is concerned. I've been against medicating myself for this, as I'm already on a bunch of meds for other stuff, but I'm starting to struggle more.
I have undiagnosed and untreated general anxiety disorder, and PTSD. It's starting to get in the way of my job. My coworkers are therapists and other wonderful people, so they understand when I ask them to stay five feet away from me at all times, but I shouldn't have to. I don't want them to feel like I'm pushing them away - they're like a second family to me.
I've always kind of had some anxiety, nothing too bad, but it's gotten much worse since a traumatic event about six months ago. I've been having trouble being in even small crowds, and I'm getting, like, no sleep. I'll go to bed at 12 and waking up at 4:00, unable to go back to bed. :(
My friend triggered an attack by accident today. I started crying and shaking and had to step away for a second, at work. It's ridiculous.
Has anyone dealt with or had any success in managing their anxiety? Any tips, tricks, techniques, or miracle-drugs? Any good ideas?
Help :(

1. St. John's Wort. It's not medicine, it's a plant and taking it can help with anxiety problems. I've been on it for a few weeks, and I guess my anxiety is lower than usual. I just started a new job and was more excited than nervous.
2. Diet and exercise. Seriously, I guess eating right and getting to the gym, running, whatever can help your body out. I haven't been able to test this one personally, but I'm gonna be starting at a gym and trying to eat better because I just started at Whole Foods and it's full of good for you stuff.
3. Sleep! Number 2 should actually help out with this one. Getting a good nights sleep helps out wonders with anxiety. A good NON-drug path for this is taking Valerian Root and Melatonin. Both of those are natural (one's a root and the other is something in the body directed at a natural sleep cycle).
4. SAM-e. I don't know much about it, I've done research cause I want to try it, but it's all natural (they sell it at my work, so it has to be) and it's supposed to help with everything from arthritis to anxiety. It also has very little side-effects, as long as you take it on an empty stomach and not at night. It seems legit though, it's been used in Europe for a long time.
5. If you have an iPod, try a self-hypnosis app. I use one from time to time, and it just relaxes you to no end. It's just 30 minutes of listening and laying down. You'll feel amazing after doing it, I promise! [ sillyrob's advice column | Ask sillyrob A Question ]

I dont any more with my work schedule and my kids I just dont have time but i had to start my self on my anti depressents again which is really helping im on celexa 20 mg. and im not ashamed of it and you shouldnt be either it really does help. i just take it once a day but Ive been raped. 2 times, held at gun point and in an abusive relationship which is all my PTSD. I love watching law n order but sometimes just the show triggers attacks. [ Sweet_LiL_Angel's advice column | Ask Sweet_LiL_Angel A Question ]
