This is kind of embarrassing but I still have the sheet my Orthodontist gave me when I first got my braces you should definitely avoid ;
HARD FOODS: ice, nuts, popcorn, crunchy peanutbutter
CHEWY & STICKY FOODS: Bagels, caramel, and NO GUM
SUGARY FOODS: Sodas, cakes, cookies, and most candy bars
If you must eat bagels and pizza crust, break it into smaller pieces.
You can still eat cakes and cookies and such but you should be LIMITING the amount of sugar you eat.
-hope this was helpful- [: ]
I had braces too. Well, I still have retainers. When you have braces you can eat anything which is not TOO hard to bite. You shouldn't have a problem with the braces on leaving aside the occasional pain you face when your dentist will tighten them!
Have fun :D
and you can experiment with different colors too :) ]
When I had braces, I didn't really follow the rules the orthodontist gave me. You can eat apples, just don't bit into them. Cut them into pieces, same goes for other fruit and vegetables. Don't chew on ice, or hard candy because that can cause the bracket to brake.
Another tip, do not drink soda, coffee, juice, and anything besides water without a straw. If you don't use a straw, the beverages can stain your teeth and once you get them off, you can have a stain on your teeth- and that is expensive to fix.
Also, they say not to chew gum, but for me personally, it has never affected me or my braces. ]
You can't eat apples or caramel. I would strongly suggest you don't eat stringy foods or things that would get caught up in them easily. Also, chewing suger gum is a BIG no-no. Remember to brush very thoroughly though, no matter what you eat! Best of luck, Jess. ]
you can eat normally as you did before you get braces just when you in stringy stuff like spinach make sure you clean your braces often ]
