Graduating early/taking an onlie class.

Question Posted Thursday December 9 2010, 6:29 pm

I hate high school. I'm 18, I'm more mature then people in my school, and I'm in all these boring advanced classes that are jokes. I'm not learning anything, and I hate my friends! They are annoying and we've grown apart. I want to try to graduate early or take my English class online or at a community college. I'm wondering, from people who have done this.. (basically taking an online class) is it easy, is it hard, is it a lot of work, anything you want to tell me about it would be great:)

I actually did some online classes my first year of high school. It is really easy and you can work at your own pace! Of course there would be a lot of work involved but as long as you stay on task it shouldn't be bad at all.
Good luck.

My son took courses at a local college to complete his senior year of high school. Like you, he had outgrown high school mentality and needed more of a challenge.

Your high school will lose money if you stop going to school, so they may not be as supportive as they could be - just a heads up.

I'm taking 3 online classes this semester and found them all to be very easy. Like the other person said, you have time to look up answers. I usually just use Google them and don't even bother reading the textbook if I'm not interested. As long as you have an organized teacher, it should be much easier than going to class. Make sure you look the teacher up on ratemyprofessor.com to know just how organized the teacher is according to past students.

I have taken 7 online classes. It is not hard it is pretty esay. You can look up all the answers. and you do it on your time. I think that's a very good idea you have. However taking an online class can be annoying depending on the person if you are mature enough to be responsible and turn in assignments and not get be hind then I would say go for it. It's not that bad especially if you hate school

Your best bet would be to talk to your guidance counselor asap. He or she can help you decide if it's even possible for you to double up on classes if need be. It also depends on how many credits you have at this point. Just because your classes seem easy doesn't mean that you have the credits required to graduate early. On a side note I'd like to say you should enjoy high school while you're there. Once you're out in the "real world" you'll appreciate those care-free high school days. Trust me, I know this :)
