those are two very different topics, but I'll answer both.
ethics: there's several different outlooks on the subject, in Japan it's honorable to disembowel yourself with a really big knife, while German officers would shoot themselves in the head with their pistol. the trend being that it's socially acceptable if you are either A: a warrior in an untenable situation, and must kill yourself to either prevent dishonor, or the enemy from capturing you alive, or B: you're a hapless female civilian in a city about to be conquered by an army with a nasty reputation for Gang-rape, like the Soviet Army. of course, its fashionable in certain job fields at certain times, like a stock broker in october 1929, but for the most part its socially unacceptable. You can't be buried on consecrated ground, body's not allowed in a church, its a pretty hardcore level of unacceptable.
As far as doing it, girls tend to use pills and poison, while guys tend to do it in an spectacular and viloent manner. rates of success are also interesting- around 30% of the girls succeed their first try, while about 90% of dudes pull a first-time-go. the numbers are telling- not just in the numbers of sissies just doing a "cry for help", but also for the number of failures that fail even at killing themselves.
Moral of the story: Are you doing this as a "cry for help"? if so, talk to somebody. if you want to do this, and there is no talking you out of it, then fine, choose your method. its pretty easy, you can kill yourself with anything that surrounds you. But keep in mind the following: suicide is fucking messy, no matter how you do it. Lay down Tarps. Make sure somebody finds your body within eight hours- I'm sure your family would not appreciate having to deal with a three-week decomposed corpse on top of the emotional bullshit you're putting them through. There won't be any insurance payoff for them either, so they'll have to pay for your cremation out of pocket. trust me, getting rid of a suicide body is a shitty ordeal. Thankfully there is always the option of throwing the ashes in the city dump.

suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem . you dont want to leave your life . get a therapist and talk to someone .

please dont do anyhting to hurt yourself :l please call someone you know and tell them why you are deppresed and let it all out it will help so muchh.
