ok, i have two dogs, one is a puppy & she is 6 months old. i have another that is 3 years old. they still haven't played together yet.. can a dog trainer help me? i really hate to spend the money on one, if they aren't going to do much, or what they do is something that i could have simply done. especially since its like 100 dollars per 1 hour session :/ my vet told me to wait a few months, because the puppy is very small (3 pounds) and the other dog is 14 pounds. but everyone who has more then two dogs, is saying just to let them play. but i don't think my older one is very well socialized, and sometimes she looks like she wants to play with the little one, but then growls and jumps up on the couch like she is scared of her. what should i do. :(

I personally would start by slowly introducing them together. for example, if you have dog cages for both, keep them in the same room while both in the dog cage. Then let the elder out, while the 3month old is still in the cage. This lets the elder observe the younger, yet the younger feels safe while still being in the cage. You could try holding the younger in your arms, while the elder sits beside you, but the problem of jealousy may occur. The changes are, that the elder has good intentions, but 6months is pretty young, and the world can be a huge place for a puppy- an elder scary bigger dog doesn't help. I would say that the best option would be to keep the elder on a lead (giving you full control) while the younger just runs around a little. Keep at this, for maybe an hour a day? or as much time as you have. this will slowly get them introduced to each other, and hopefully be a start of a beautiful friendship.
Also, maybe watch some dog based television shows? Its like, free dog training classes. For example, 'the dog whisperer', or 'its me or the dog'.
