Well im i the 7th grade and im 13. i'm about 20 punds and i really would like to lose it. any sugestions? i really can't help what i eat ecause i just grabs whats in the house for breakfest, we don't have healthy lunches at school. and for dinner its usualy pizza or spagheti.
First, no one mentioned the obvious. Exercise more. Weight loss is a function of your calorie balance which is the calories in vs calories out (i.e. exercise).
Cardio is excellent, so are sports. In fact no matter what everyone should be doing at least 3 cardios per week (steady pace, min 20 minutes in duration) just for your heart's health. This could be biking, running, swimming etc.
In my opinion thats your best first move.
Then, start weeding out some of the worsts elements in your food. What is in the house at breakfast? Look for things like oats, whole wheat bread, low fat dairy products, low fat meats, fruit, eggs (in moderation), etc.
As for later in the day, you can try some of the suggestions mentioned below. Its hard to say sometimes how bad things are e.g. spaghetti can be ok, say if its made with a healthy meat sauce (not high fat beef). Pizza rarely is, so you should really moderate that.
As for how much you need to lose... I am not a fan of BMI. Lots of people use it but it neglects two vital elements 1. build size (are you narrow or broad shouldered?) and 2. muscle to fat ratio. If you put a bodybuilder through a BMI formula he could come out as overweight even though he has a lower fat percentage than any of us would dream of.
So, forget numbers and use the mirror. It is the one thing that does not lie and nothing beats it. This way you can see for yourself, and you wont need to ask others.
Anyway, use the food tips that everyone gave you, but please be active. Make it a part of your daily life and find something you enjoy doing (maybe a sport like soccer - which is phenomenal for losing weight and staying fit).

But if your not obese or above average in weight then there should be nothing wrong with staying the size you already are.
Maybe change your diet more by telling parents you like healthier food. Why not take a pack lunch in (if your so concerned with your weight u may have to make ur own lunch). Exercise more would help anything from walking more or playing in park, riding bike, star jumps, dancing to music (round room at home or in a class).
Be more active and more involved in your food intake such as going food shopping and picking out something healthy like fruit.
Little things would help change your weight like eating less snacks or healthier ones such as fruit.
Be more active and healthy and you will soon see your weight come down.
Without your work nothing will happen.

Without knowing your height we can't successfully establish what weight you need to be versus what you are at now. You might not need to lose 20 pounds at all or could be in the window where you should.
What you need to do is log onto Google. Type in BMI Chart and once it loads put in your height and current weight and it will tell you the healthy amount of pounds you need to be.
If you need to lose pounds you'll have to exercise daily and eat lots of greens and other veggies and a healthy portion for dinner and breakfast and don't eat any junk food. Drink water instead of pop about 6 times a day and you can and will lose weight.
What annoys me is that your school is offering only junk for lunch which isn't helping students at all. The thing is you've got a choice. DON'T BUY IT or consume it. Take sandwiches or something you know is good for you and eat that.
Pizza and spaghetti are sometimes foods and not to be eaten a lot. You need to talk to your parents about affordable lunches, breakfasts and dinners that won't cause weight gain.
When you do have pizza limit yourself to 2 slices, get lots of veggies on it, cheese is okay (no extra cheese) and take pepperoni off of it or any meats like Salami. That's a healthy way of eating pizza. Talk to your parents though as having pizza and spaghetti all the time will adversely impact weight and health.

So start by putting less on your plate. If you're still hungry, you can go back and get more, but sometimes putting too much on our plates makes us think we need to eat it all. Also, tell your parents you want to try to eat healthier and ask if they can buy a few more healthy things for the house when they shop next. And drink lots of water. These are all little changes that can make a big difference ( I lost 75lbs like this, basically), but the most important thing for you to remember is that you are young. At 13 your body is still changing and growing. You may be a bit overweight right now, and in another year you could be 20lbs thinner, without doing anything! So try not to be to hard on yourself. Eat as healthy as possible and control your portions. And also, make sure you are buying clothes that fit you properly. Jeans that are too tight make your tummy spill out (muffintop) and push things around, making you look lumpier than you really are. Just make good decisions. You'll be fine.
