I agree with PEEPS; you need to have an MRI or CAT scan done. You should schedule an appointment with a good Neuro-Surgon or Orthopedist to have your back fully checked out.

If you do not know of any ot these type doctors and would like a referal I would suggest you call the referal line at the neares level1 Trauma Hospital. The Doctors at these Hospitals are the best in your area. After making the rounds of local doctors with no help I finaly called my local Trauma hospital. It took one visit to get a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Your back can be your greatest source of pain when you get older so get it checkout know when corrective procedures can be done.

Here is the problem with cutesy titles... I wouldn't have looked at this question, had I not had to handle an abuse report on the user that gave another answer.

Having VAST experience with what you describe, I would like to suggest something:

Find yourself a good chiropractor!

This is really important. The key word here is GOOD. A bad chiropractor can, very easily, make you wish you hadn't been born. Worse yet, about the only way to recover from such a thing is to then find a good one and pay him or her to straighten you out.

Having been through this both ways, there is one word you should keep in mind: "References!"

Ask for references. If they don't wish to offer any... leave!

People who find a good bone cracker will tell anyone who will stop long enough to listen. This means it is REALLY a bad sign when they can't offer you several that are willing to vouch for them.

Take care, and I certainly hope you get yourself straightened out.

P.S. Peeps is right on the money that this could be something more serious. A good chiropractic office will be the first to refer you to a clinician in the appropriate field if your symptoms bother them.

This very well could be the start of arthritis or some other form of join inflammation, especially if you are "popping" your joints in your back frequently.

You absolutely must see a doctor to diagnose this problem. They can do x-rays and see if something is out of alignment. They can also refer you to a good chiropractor that can help you find some long-term relief without having to frequently "pop" your bones.

The popping noise can actually be made by fluid being pushed out of the joint. The fluid is there so that there is no bone-on-bone action that can grind on the bones themselves and cause severe discomfort. The popping can push this fluid out of it's usual place and decrease the amount of "cushion" between those bones, leading to further discomfort.

With that being said, stop popping your back and just see a doctor to get this taken care of properly. Nobody wants to turn 30 and have arthritis in their back because they couldn't stop "popping" the neck and just see a doctor.
