I recently took a mid management position with a retail chain , this being after I held a temp position at another retail chain. While working the temp position I was basiclly tormented and then assualted by a black coworker for no reason other than she just did not like me. I now have the duty of supervising a "young lady" who is also black and has given me hell since I walked in the door. When it is convenient she bullies me and will go to "the bathroom" and talk on the cell for for up to an hour if possible. I am a married woman, I am 5'0 tall, slender because I work my --- off, blond and blue eyed and at the same time probally 20 years older than this employee-but was told that she resents me because of my appearance. - I have already talked to my manager but she makes sure she acts okay when he or coworkers are watching.

RhonaKnows answered Wednesday July 28 2010, 12:39 pm: Take a strong stance, look them in the eye and tell them that if theyve got a problem with you, then they need to work through it cos you're the woman in charge. Pull them aside and tell them that you're not there to make them like you; you're there to do a job. And yes; you're exactly who THEY want to be so they bully you. Don't cower, but don't become aggressive. Be strong and stand up to them and either ask them SPECIFICALLY, "What is your major malfunction, fool?" or ignore them and laugh it off. If they go to the loo and talk for an hour, surely you have an hour to find a supervisor; right? ONE THING TO DO FOR SURE: keep a record of what happens with them, what they do, just write it all down, time, date, the whole bit. Women of all colors have always acted like they hated me without knowing me FOR MY WHOLE LIFE. They;re jealous but they're stupid; I'm a great person and fun to be with so they will never know and will live with that feeling of hatred inside of them forever, since admitting they're jealous is NOT going to happen. Don't be their friend since youre middle management and can't do that, but you CAN be friendly, tell them specifically what you need them to do, (write it down) and ignore the foolishness that comes out of their mouths. I have lots of black women who are my friends because they're BLACK, PROUD OF IT, and dont even give it a second thought; they're just women, like me!!!!!!! My daughter was threatened in High School by 'a gang of black girls' who obviously were ashamed of being black, since they;re givng you shit for being WHITE AND PRETTY AND PETITE. They're ignorant. And if you don't dog your bosses with this problem everytime it happens, then your bosses suck so you're stuck on both ends. That's when you re-type your resume and get the hell out of there and find work that gives you pleasure; not conflict~~ I JUST KNOW YOU WANT TO LOVE YOUR JOB- so find one that suits you better and never look back. It's just not worth it; think forward, girlfriend!!!!!!! And have pity for them; ignorance and prejudice; bad combo. Who needs it?

Aren't there any security cameras? Perhaps one around the bathroom (outside of course) that shows when she goes in and comes out? Do the cameras have sounds around where you supervise them? The only thing you can have on your side is something that records what they say or do. I'm sorry something so childish is happening, but to be honest, that's the only thing you can do. Have evidence other than your word. I hope everything works out okay.
