I let a guy I like borrow something and he destroyed it!

Ok im 14 female.i have this hat that all my friends love and it has alot of memoires with it.I let this guy that i sorta like borrow it untill we were goin to a lock in.when the lock in was over he wouldnt give it back so i was like watever.i just found out that he let it get shreded from a dog.idk what to do because im really mad at him

If this guy doesn't care about something that is valuable to you when you trusted him, that could only be the tip of the iceberg. Later down the line, he might let you down in other ways. He doesn't care and he's not worth your time.

Ok if you truly like his guy just let it pass. My advice is to go up to him and be like ok I know the hats gone but how could you do that? It meant alot to me. Don't over react though like don't go off on him because then he will not want to have anything to do with you. If he just says I'm sorry be like ok I accept but I just want you to see how I feel. And say like what if I took somehing you really like or has semtemintal value to you and destroyed it? But remember don't blow it out of porportion. I really can't do anything to get your hat back but maybe ask him for some money for the cost of the hat. If you need anything at all inbox me. Let me know how it turns out or if you want additional advice!!! :)
