So I always have this discharge coming from my vagial area, and I am not sure what it is from. It makes me smell and that makes me self concious. I don't have any STD's so I know it isn't anything dealing with that. Someone please tell me whats wrong with me...
Peeps answered Thursday July 1 2010, 9:31 pm: Oh, gosh, don't just hope it eventually goes away. That's how people end up with really bad infections, life-long pain called Pelvic Inflammatory disease, and infertility.
See a doctor. Seriously.
I know it might be embarrassing but it's natural to have some sort of infection in your lifetime. Infections can be caused by nearly anything, from wearing too tight clothing down below or thongs or eating unhealthy foods often (especially too much sugar).
Now, while it may be a very harmless yeast infection you should see a doctor because the same symptoms of a yeast infection are those of a bacterial infection. Yeast infections = harmless, just irritating. Bacterial infections = extremely dangerous and can cause life-long illness/pain and infertility.
You definitely don't want to take the chance of leaving this alone and hoping it goes away if it's a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections do not clear up on their own. You need special antibiotics to rid yourself of it. The longer you leave it untreated, the more damage it can do to your reproductive organs.
Ignoring the problem is just stupid. Flat-out.
It's possible that the discharge is normal. All women do have some form of discharge. If it smells bad then it isn't a good sign. It should smell very much like a natural human body and not fishy, sour, or strong. You also should not be secreting anything that looks lumpy and white. Both of these signs are tell-tale of infections (yeast or bacterial). You have to see a doctor to get treated properly.
If things are just not quite right then you body is telling you that something is NOT right. Listen to your body. See a doctor about it before leaving it alone and pretending it isn't there. Yeah, it might go away--or it might really cause severe damage. It might be something, it might be nothing. Do you really want to chance it? [ Peeps's advice column | Ask Peeps A Question ]
RACHElbby answered Thursday July 1 2010, 9:12 pm: I used to have the same problem. It eventually just got lighter & didn't smell anymore.
Some suggestions:
-Sleep in underwear or shorts with out underwear ;it helps it air out & stops it from all the moisture building up.
-They have these things called panty-liners ;from personal experience ,if your using those ... don't. It just makes it worse.
