Iguanalover answered Wednesday June 16 2010, 7:04 pm: everybody's body is different. i got mine when i was 12 but my friend got hers when she was 16. unfortunately it does hurt because of cramps but you can take midol (a pill for cramps incase you didn't know) and that usually helps me. and it also is bad because... well you have blood coming out of you lol but you use tampons and pads etc. and it gets easier. don't be embarassed to tell your mom, it's natural. i got it at one of the worst akward places "my dad's bosses house" so it was a little embarassing but only my mom knew. i just called my mom in and said "i think i got my period". it's not easy to tell her but you can't just sit there haha. every girl has "white stuff" or discharge in their vagina and it sometimes comes out in their underwear. i do not think it means you will go through it soon cause every girl has it all the time but im not saying you won't go through it soon but i dont think its because of discharge. hope i helped :) [ Iguanalover's advice column | Ask Iguanalover A Question ]
BMH0987 answered Thursday June 10 2010, 5:34 pm: I didn't get mine until this year, i'm 15.
it's completely normal everybodys body is different. my sister started when she was 12, some of my friends started as early as 3rd grade.
Be lucky you haven't gotten it yet! it sucks.
when you're on your period you can't go swimming
and your constantly having to check to make sure you haven't bleed through.
first couple months it's irregular. so you never know when youre going to start. Always keep either a pad or a tampon with you at all times just incase. What sucks more than anything is starting during school or when you're out in public and everyone seeing blood on the back of your pants.
moms and doctors have all been in your same situation and often have more factual info than friends or the internet. But remember, this happens to everyone. As long as you don't have any warning signs such as itching and odor than you have nothing to stress about, sistah :)
Period or not, girls get discharge and continue to have it for the rest of their lives. Depending on the time of the month and even your age, discharge will change. It can be a variety of colors yellow, white, clear and consistencies thick, runny. These types of changes are normal.
Discharge is just another part of puberty and it can come in all different textures and colors. The only time you should be worried is if your discharge comes with a burning or itching sensation (and you'll know it!) or if it smells unusually fishy and strong. When you've got discharge like this, don't freak but please see a doc ASAP so you can fix the prob. You might have a yeast infection, which is easily cured by meds.
Your body is developing and changing, so new things are happening.
sweetascandy7364 answered Tuesday June 8 2010, 10:18 pm: Don't worry you will get it in time. I would just be concerned if you didn't get it by 16 or 17. Anyway pain and stuff really depends on you. It effects everyone differently. I have one friend who can barley get out of bed when she gets hers, but the rest of us are fine will just taking an advil. Periods are a pain but there not that bad. Don't worry about talking to your mom, she's probably expecting you to get it soon anyway. Tell her right away though, the longer you wait the harder it will be to tell her. Just be like mom... I think I just got my period. About the white stuff it's just discharge. This happens when you start puberty. It took me about 6 months after first getting that to get my period. Everyone is different but you should get it soon. Don't worry it's not that horrible! [ sweetascandy7364's advice column | Ask sweetascandy7364 A Question ]
malsaysrawr answered Tuesday June 8 2010, 2:11 pm: YOu'll get your period when the time is right. Ask your Mother if she's prone to getting cramps, if so, yes, it really is that bad. It's not something to look forward to.
When you get your period..tell your mom. You don't need to put it in an easy way because every girl is going to get it at some point. She will most likely help you. [ malsaysrawr's advice column | Ask malsaysrawr A Question ]
