Is my hair healthy?

Question Posted Wednesday April 28 2010, 7:54 pm

(15/f)

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if my hair is healthy or not, or if i'm damaging it too much!

Everyday i get up, shower, wash and condition my hair, blow-dry, then straighten. My hair is naturaly curly and frizzy, so i prefer it straight.

Even though i straighten it everyday, i use a protecting spray, bought from a salon.

The thing is, my mom tells me ALL THE TIME, i'm damaging my hair, and i don't want to be!

Before I started processing my hair often, it was very thick and healthy feeling. Now, it seems it's been thinning around my bangs.

Could this be because of my routine?

If it is, what can i do to change that?

And does anyone know any tricks on how to get thicker nicer hair?

Thanks! :)

No, your hair isn't healthy.

Blow drying & straightening your hair everyday is damaging it. Heat damage can really kill your hair and fry it and leave it dry and gross looking.

Washing your hair & conditioning it are a great thing to do, but try not to blow dry & straighten it so much. Your mom's right. You're killing your hair. And the thinning near your bangs is because of your morning routine.

Maybe go to a salon & ask what products they prefer to keep curly hair nice and to keep it from frizzing up. I'm sure they'll get you some good products that'll keep your hair tame so that you don't have to continue frying it everyday.

Well, The blow drying and straightener is going to damage your hair over time definately and products build up on hair. What i would recommend being a hairdresser at one time is to do moisture/conditioning treatments on your hair or hot oil treatments to put some moisture back into your hair. Also letting you hair go natural sometimes-maybe if you are home for the day or something. Just give it a break.

straightening and blowdrying is really bad for your hair, especially if you do it every day. if you're gonna blowdry it try using cool air. and you definetly shouldn't straighten it everyday, it does soo much damage to your hair. your hair is naturally curly, so many people are jealous of that. why don't you wear it curly more? i use tousle me softly mousse from herbal escenses so it keeps your curls soft and frizz-ease to keep the frizziness away.
