I just got glasses and I have a question!

Question Posted Sunday February 21 2010, 7:07 pm

I just got glasses and I don't want to wear them ALL the time, so I was wandering after I get used to wearing the glasses will I still be able to see without everything being completley blurry?

Glasses will not correct your vision OR make it worse. They're jsut there to help you see clearly.

[If you dont' give a crap about the 'scientific' explanation, skip this paragraph] It's because when you dont'see clearly anymore, either the light entering your eyes is converging before it hits the retina (nearsighted) or it reaches your retina before converging (farsighted). what glasses do is make the light converge in the proper spot, which allows you to see clearly.

because glasses do not change anythign IN your eye (they just change the direction of light before it enters your eye), their vision-correcting power only lasts as long as you're wearing the glasses.

*sigh*

Staring through glasses is not going to make your vision worse; age is what is going to cause that. Obviously you can't stop aging, so your eyes will progressively get worse until your late teens or early 20s. From there, they'll probably settle down and for the most part stay consistent, until you become older (40s, 50s +) and they begin to deteriorate further.

Your eyes will never be able to see clearly on their own; you will need glasses, contacts, or surgery. But looking through glasses isn't going to make them worse, as stated below.

i got glasses about a year ago and i have been wearing my off and on because i dont want to depend on my glasses all the time for my sight. it also depends on how bad your vision is and maybe you can wear contacts if you dont want to wear your glasses all the time

Im 19 and ive had glasses since i was 8.

Ive noticed that after you get used to glasses, your eyes become more dependent on them. Your sight can actually get worse as you get older because your eyes NEED your glasses to see.

If you can see reasonably well without them then i would suggest wearing them only when you need to use them. Be it for driving or school or reading. But if you can go throughout your normal day otherwise then try not to wear them to much.

Ive had 11 new pairs of glasses since the year i got them, all because i needed to prescriptions. So use them wisely!
