how do you keep from blacking out?

Question Posted Thursday January 28 2010, 1:58 am

Lately it seems liek I just pass out randomly! I was with my friends and I blacked out at the mall. I was just sitting in a chair and then I was flopped on the table. I don't know if I should go to the doctor or not. Does this happen to anyone else or is there something really wrong with me?

If I don't need a doctor then how do you keep from blacking out randomly?

Thanks you!

You need to see your doctor. That is not normal. In simple fainting, your blood vessels dilate, blood pressure suddenly falls,so that the brain is not adequately perfused with blood and you pass out. When you are lying down the brain is perfused (the blood doesn’t have to go uphill) again and you wake up, usually with no harm. Another cause of passing out is a grand mal seizure, which looks different with random movements while uncoscious, but again they usually awaken without harm. That is caused by abnormal electrical impulses in the brain. More serious causes include diabetic coma or stroke, etc.

You should probably go talk to your doctor about it. It could be dagerous. A friend of mine blanked out while driving and totalled her car and broke her arm.

Black outs, fainting, syncope usually does not mean there is something drastic wrong with you. However, if it happens often, you probably need to see a doctor to find out what the cause might be.

You don't say how old you are, but you don't want to drive, or learn to drive and have this happen to you. You are risk for fall injuries too. So do see
a doctor & find out why this is happening.

You need to see a Dr. & get a diagnosis you may be alone someday and bang your head and well need help by a paramedict & your all alone. See a Dr. It may be narcalepsy when you randomly fall asleep for no apparent reason it may be oxygen related you may be fainting it may be serious. This is not normal. I knew a girl who fainted a lot what if she was driving. I mean Really the consequences cannot be ignored.
