it's not genital herpes that they get. they do get herpes, but it's just called cold sores. wait until your outbreak is over and use a condom (even though that sounds weird, but be safe) [ hotpotato's advice column | Ask hotpotato A Question ]

your mouth or on your lips.
Cold sores are extremely contagious and are most often caused by the Herpes Simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). More importantly, when oral herpes lesions and/or its contents come into direct contact with the genital area through oral-genital sex, genital herpes most likely will develop.
Do not have oral sex without using a condom if you have a cold sore.
leah87 answered Wednesday January 20 2010, 8:15 pm: Type one and type two are majorly different. If you have type one which would be cold sores and is nothing major you can give it but it's of no concern. Type two is Genital herpes and is something that needs to be treated immediately. You can not give type two without having it first. [ leah87's advice column | Ask leah87 A Question ]
