so i snowboard a lott. and i always see a bunch of cute guys there. i want to strike up a conversation with them but i don't want it to look like i'm desperate you know? so what can i say/do?

How did they learn a specific trick? Have they been to a ski resort you are interested in going to? All of these are completely normal questions you'd probably be willing to ask anybody. Treat someone who is attractive like a normal person; they still have interests and feelings, regardless of just being adorable!
Not every person you will strike up a conversation with will be responsive. Some people or shy or aren't used to talking to strangers or are just plain douchebags. Don't worry if the first guy you try to speak with responds negatively- there are plenty of others. [ Erinn_the_bamf's advice column | Ask Erinn_the_bamf A Question ]

But that's where some of the problem begins. We tend to be distracted by all the physical stuff that we forget what meeting a person is all about. If you want to strike up a conversation with these guys, try to see past the "cuteness". Try to meet them just for the sake of meeting them and not because they're cute. At the same time, it might be good if you started off the conversation with something related to snowboarding. Since you snowboard a lot, maybe you could ask them about their gear, boards, best place to get boards, how often they do it, best place to snowboard, etc. It's always good to talk about something that ALL of you can actually talk about.
