Making new friends

I am a sophomore in high school. How can i make friend in my classes where i have junior and senior classmates?

Act confident. Joke around. Pretend you're interested in their lives even if you aren't. If they're wearing something comment on it. Just start conversation. Ask about school projects/homework but then make a joke about the teacher. Ask them why they are taking the class etc.
