Anorexic friend?

Question Posted Monday December 14 2009, 4:37 pm

17/f I know most teen girls go through some form of eating disorder but my friend took it to extremes. She only eats once a day if that. And all it is is salads. Her hair is falling out, she is pale, and her mood seems more depressed/ lacks life. I keep telling her to stop but she won't. Her mom doesn't even seem to care she works slot and is never around.

Now this is common. I myself would talk to someone about it. Since she herself can't stop. It may make her hate you, but you could save her life. Just think what a real friend would do. GOOD LUCK!!!

being a friend and being there for her is the best thing to do. All you can really do is let her know how you feel about her condition and be support. Talk to your parents and guidience counsuler for advice. But dont tell her what to do because she will just run and make the two of you grow mmore apart. just watch over her, even if it does hurt you, she is her own person and it is her body therefore, she will do what she wants.

Definitely consider talking to your guidance counselor. Even though your friend could possibly become angry with you for doing this, it will help her in the long run, and eventually she'll thank you. Or, she'll just right off the bat appreciate everything you've done. If you decide not to do that, try continuing talking to her, showing her the side-effects of eating disorders, and keep telling her she's beautiful.
