Pregnant?

Question Posted Monday November 30 2009, 10:25 pm

Ok, so Im 19/f on the pill. But in the past month Ive missed a few just cause I get so distracted here at school (im in college). Me and my boyfriend have sex regularly and we dont use condoms ( I dont need the condom lecture, please). A couple weeks ago, we had sex and he thinks he came in me just a little. So that makes me nervous because I did miss a couple pills. Now, Ive been feeling kind of nauseous for the past week. And I feel really like grose and bloated, Ive also been moody. (Plus Im constipated, I know.... its grose) I know these are all symptoms of early pregnancy, but its not like Im making myself feel that way. I just happened to look up early symptoms for a paper I was writing and freaked out when I realized that all of them were applying to me. Do you think Im pregnant? Or what are the chances? My next period is a week and a half away. Any opinions would be helpful, thanks.

or people who ask questions if they're pregnant:

We do not know every detail about your circumstance, nor are most of us doctors, so we cannot tell for certain whether or not you are pregnant. Pregnancy tests can be very accurate, and when in complete doubt, going to a REAL doctor can be even more accurate.

That being said, here are some facts about pregnancy:

-Even if every single factor was in place for you to get pregnant, there is still at MOST an 80% chance of pregnancy, without any birth control or condoms.
-Just putting on a condom does not guarantee that you won't get pregnant-there's a 98% success rate for condoms if they are ALWAYS USED EXACTLY CORRECTLY, but for the average person, the success rate drops to 85%.
-The pill is a very effective form of birth control. There are two forms of the pill, combination pills and mini-pills. The perfect use success rate (you take it exactly as you should without missing any) for the combination pill is more than 99% and for the mini-pill is 97%. The average person has a success rate of about 95%.
-The pill is a great method of birth control for people in committed relationships, because it is much more effective than condoms, and less expensive and more convenient. However, if you are not in a committed relationship, you should be using condoms, because the pill does NOT prevent STD's.
-"pre-cum can get you pregnant, it has sperms". This is a common misconception, that cowper's gland secretions, A.K.A. "pre-cum", contain sperm. However, pre-cum only contains sperm that is left over from previous ejaculations; if you urinate between ejaculations, there will be no sperm in your pre-cum.

The important thing to keep in mind is that every time you have sex, there is SOME risk of pregnancy, even if it is infinitesimally small. Remember the wise words of Dr. Cox, “Statistics mean nothing to the individual.”

If anything is going to soothe your mind, it's a pregnancy test. Whether he cums in you or not, it doesn't matter. There's always pre-cum and there's sperm in pre-cum, so either way you could be pregnant without him "fully" cumming in you. I wouldn't be too worried about it, you could just be stressed out. Wait and see if you get your period or not. If you don't, buy a test. If anything throwing up would be a clearer sign than just being nauseous. Though you could just be getting your period, those all tend to be signs of that as well.

Just try to ease your mind and don't think about it. You'll stress yourself out.

Hope I helped!

I think you should wait until a week or 2 after your next period. But stressing out about thinking you are pregnant will make your period come late. When I was trying to get pregnant and id be late for a period id feel a little sick some symptoms would apply to early pregnancy bt then id get my period. not im pregnant and I havent had a period in like 7 months any who. Sometimes early pregnant symptoms are signs that your period is coming. Also do at least 2 home pregnancy tests or just go straight to the doctor. Ask them for a pregnancy test. If your boyfriend did cum inside your chances are probably pretty high. but i dont know how long you have been on the pill or anything.

Okay first thing you need to do is calm down. Stressing out will only make your period come later, if it comes. Now let's talk science this should help you determine what your chances of being pregnant are. There is only one day a month that a women can get pregnant (there are some cases where women produce more than one egg a month, that is very rare.) An egg can only live for one day, if it is not fertilized it will die, but sperm can live inside of a female for three days. So really there is a three day window for pregnancy. The way you figure out that day is you look at your last two periods. Count the number of days between the beginning of the two, for example let's say 28 days. The egg is viable at the half point of your cycle. So sticking with our example count 14 days from the last day of your last period, and that would be close to when you're egg is ready. So if you had on that day, one day before, or two days before it not using any protection then you have a 50/50 chance of pregnancy. This science doesn't work every time though because women's cycles change so much, if you really want to know if you're pregnant then take a pregnancy test.
I hope everything goes the way you want, and I know you said no condom speech, but you should make your boyfriend take some responsibility in birth control too. It shouldn't have to be all you.

Many of the signs of early pregnancy are the same or similar to those of PMS, especially feeling bloated and moody. All you can do is wait, and if your period doesn't come, take a test.

But for future reference...pills do NOT work if you don't take them. Read the instructions on yours, often they tell you what to do if you miss a pill. Otherwise, if you miss a pill, you need to wait a few days (or use a condom) before having sex again.
