when i first started getting them when i was 13 they really bugged me. i thought about it way to much. now what i do when i see my anesthisieologist i bring my i pod and a book im really into. it takes my mind off of my surroundings. its a little pinch and its over before you know it. its just like getting a shot but it lasts a little longer. just relax and everything will be just fine [ frausylvia's advice column | Ask frausylvia A Question ]

Everyone deals with pain differently and it also depends on how skilled the person doing the blood test is. I've had a few, the worst was with someone who was a bit heavy handed and I ended up with a huge bruise. That was a one-off though and all the others I've had have been fine.
Make sure you voice any concerns with whoever is performing the test. They will be able to talk you through it and put you at ease. If you are really worried, it may be worth asking in advance if you would be able to use Emla cream, which numbs the area. This might not be available though. LOL_x0x answered Wednesday November 11 2009, 1:22 pm: I've had quite a few blood tests, and honestly? They don't hurt. But if you THINK about it, it hurts A LOT more than if you just turn away and let them do their things.
Just turn away and think of something that makes you happy. It will be over before you know it :)

and they had to get two people to try and get the blood out seeing as it was going slowly and they had to get a smaller needle you aren't a baby there are people who are afraid of needles there's nothing wrong with that :)
