crusty things in nipple?

Question Posted Wednesday November 11 2009, 2:40 am

There are these little crusty things in and around my nipple. Can you tell me what they are? It is like the stuff that you wake up with in your eyes after you sleep if that helps. Thank!

Though you didn’t say how long you’ve noticed the problem, and the only way to make a diagnosis would be to see the nipple, here is what may be happening. The most common cause of cracking and crusting of the nipple is irritation and dryness from friction, sometimes called “jogger’s nipple” since the condition is often seen in runners and athletes. During exercise, prolonged contact with fabric from a brassiere or clothing can result in nipple soreness and then thickening and scaling. Occasionally with persistent rubbing, a slight clear or yellowish nipple discharge can also occur. You don’t have to be active in sports for this to happen though. Friction from any source, such as a rough or poorly fitting bra can do it. Breast-feeding moms may get this problem too.

i had read that from an article hope that helpss

I had this around the time I was in 8th grade for some reason, and I had it for a few months.
I have no idea what it is.
But I kind of forgot about it over time untill one day I realized it was gone.

I wouldn't worry too much. Hopefully is disapperes like mine.
If it's still there within a few months I would maybe contact a doctor?
