haha trust me, my friend is the same exact way. she has a russian accent around her parents and family, but with her friends [like me] she has a totally normal english accent. She didn't think much of it, until she was talking to me on the phone, and her parents heard her. haha. It's really no biggie :] honestly, you are jist doing what feels comfortable for you. There are actually alot of people who do this. It's just 2 different accents. don't worry about it so much, it's not like you're some strange person and people are going to think you need help ;] if you really want to change this though, you can slowly start using your english accent around your parents, so they can get used to it. or you can use your british accent a little bit every day around your friends.
But don't worry, you're perfectly normal !
hope i helped, good luck, and if you need anything else, feel free to inbox me :] xxo. [ itdependsonyoux3's advice column | Ask itdependsonyoux3 A Question ]
sobeg answered Wednesday October 7 2009, 4:12 pm: youre not wierd. I think you just feel more comfortable speaking to them with that accent. Maybe you could try speaking to one of them a bit more with an englis accent so that you could do the transition easier on yourself. Hope this helps [ sobeg's advice column | Ask sobeg A Question ]
