drugs/drinking/ growing up
i was watching the movie "Adventureland" and they were... im guessing 18-19 and smoking pot and drinking. I know smoking pot and under aged drinking is illegal and that its just a movie but, is it ok to do those things at that age? Does everybody do it? i'm usually 100% a good girl (A+ student) etc. And would never consider smoking pot or drinking, but i can't help but wonder... HELP! i am currently only 13 though and will not smoke pot at this age. but
1.) is it ok at that age?
2.) does everbody do it?

Honestly? Yeah, a lot of kids experiment with it, but not everybody does. Some people choose to try things, and some don't. It's a personal decision and it's all up to you. Now, I'm by no means saying you should try it, because if you don't want to, then you most definetely shouldn't try it. Just because a lot of people do doesn't mean you have to try it, too.
Personally, I think it's ok to try it once or twice (at the age of 18-19, NOT 13). But once it becomes routine or a habit, then it's NOT ok at all.

I dont think you should feel there is any reason you have to. Certainly people do but many times they get addicted and it can effect them for the rest of their lives. dont worry about being a good girl just be you. I have never done either and you can still have fun times

Well it doesn't matter how old are you but those stuff affect you somehow the same way.
Yes you're right mostly teenagers your age or maybe older do them, but of course they are reasons, like teenagers aren't mature enough, teenagers is the highway to being mature but it doesn't mean your mature enough. It could be a lot of reasons of why teenagers mostly do drugs; like for example, boredom is a major reason why teenagers do them or curiosity like why you thinking of them, or trying to fit in so you can be labeled as an badass and etc...
Honestly when I was your age, I used to drink, do drugs and all of this crap. So I am going to speak from self-experience.
I was curios, but stupid because I didn't know there would be consequences and I was also fearless.
You have to study about pot/alcohol before trying them because they affect your attitude, behavior, feelings and your emotions.. and if you want to become that person than go on try them but if you want to be that good girl, don't do them.
Why is drugs forbidden if they make us happy?
Because they make us too happy (confused aren't you?). I will explain ..
Human beings aren't capable of being extremely sad or happy, we are balanced, because if we get too happy and something very small like someone snapping at you, can get you depressed. Which is not good, because that would lead to suicide/destroying your life.
Why can't we drink alcohol till we are 21?
Because we don't have full control ..
When you get drunk, you can do something you don't want to do and next day that would affect you emotionally
Like loosing your virginity or saying stuff you shouldn't/don't want to say.
Look, my point is if you want to experience this stuff, you should know what your expecting before you do.

well your 13 pretty much the age where people get drunk for the first time or smoke for the first time. There is nothing wrong with being a good girl. I do think that you should have an experience though. Middle school its not that common, but once you get to high school, drinking and smoking is really not a big deal. Im not saying everyone is a pot head and alcoholic but at parties thats the thing to do for a good time. People wont think less of you, its just normal.

i do both and i'm 17. pretty much everyone smokes pot or has atleast one time in their life.

i smoked when i was 12. its becomes known as you leave middle school and extremely popular in high school. yes, a lot of people smoke and drink. they're just having fun. of course you dont have to do these things. but it is common.

In that movie, they are not 18-19. They're college age, but I'm pretty sure they're a little bit older.
Underage drinking is not okay. You need to remember that. Just because other people do it doesn't mean that you should. Same deal with drugs.
Marijuana isn't legal no matter what age you are. Alcohol is only legal after 21. Keep being a good girl, and don't fall into the trends to fit in. It's stupid.
