hey im 18/f and on thursday i have my first pap smear and pelvic exam. Im kinda nervous because i've never had one done and i've heard that it hurts a little bit. I am sexually active and on birth control so they need to see if everything is good like a yearly check up. The only thing i've had done before was like an ultra sound of my ovaries they like stuck a probe up my vagina and looked at them. Somebody who has had these done please tell me how the experience was for you. Thanks a bunch!

Im Lexa btw lol
Im 17 and I had a pap smear bfor and I can tell you this..It all depends on the doctor you go to.Some say that male doctors are more gentle with us then women are. My doctor was a female and Im not gonna lie to you it hurt a little, but its something all females growing up should do to make sure we are okay! You be fine : ) Let me know how it goes!! Good luck

However, Keep in mind that it is a quick in and out sort of thing and they are doctors and it is nothing they have never seen before because afterall it is what they do. Also, If you are more comfortable you can ask for a female doctor as I personally feel more comfortable with a female. Try to relax you can also take a muscle relaxer and that should help you calm down a little bit. Frankly, It's really not that bad like I said a little bit uncomfortable but the awesome part is that it's only once a year and not every month (thank god) It's normal to be nervous I was the first time too, but just remember "A quick in and out of the doctors office" is all it is. ;) [ BahaiMa22's advice column | Ask BahaiMa22 A Question ]
