What does "that's my cue" mean?

Question Posted Sunday July 19 2009, 9:33 pm

My friend keeps saying that when we're about to get offline from chatting and it's bugging me. We will be talking a lot and then it'll be like:

Me: Well, I need to take a shower so...
Him: So, that's my cue!
Me: Uh...what?
Him: Goodnight! TTYL

What does that mean?!

That's my cue?!? What?

It just means that it's his time to leave or say goodbye.

well the person below was right but i don't think your friend says specifically that its his cue to do whatever you're doing, just that it's his cue to leave or say goodbye to you since you're about to go offline. like "Ok well i got to go" and he would say "that's my cue"

It means that because you've said your going to have a shower.. he's said 'that's my cue'

That's my cue to leave you be so you can have a shower.

It basically means that its his turn to leave. Like in a movie they say cue.. which means go, start the scene!

That means you saying you were taking a shower was his "cue", or "reminder" or "sign" that he needed to take one, too.

A cue is something that triggers something else to happen. So your saying "I need to take a shower" was his cue to take one, also.
