How do you know what dreams mean?

Question Posted Sunday July 19 2009, 9:37 pm

Some people seem to know what certain things in dreams mean. I was wondering how do people know this? I mean, is there a book of dream meanings or something? I've asked people before about what my dreams mean and they pick out stuff and tell me what symbolizes what and what means this and that. How do they know?

If you have a look in a book shop, there are definitely books on dream meanings. Whether they are accurate or not is a different story. (Remember, just because something is published doesn't make it right.)

They're like horoscopes. Can be interesting to read, but not to be taken seriously.

A scientific explanation of dreams is that they are a function of brain activity.

I hope you have good dreams.

Certain things symbolize other things.

Like an eagle represents pride or justice.
Clouds represent unclear things.

People pick out objects and see what they symbolize.

Honestly, I don't think the symbols accurately interpret your dreams.

Dreams are manifestations of what your day was. Your brain is constantly working, especially at night. Your mind just plays back your day in a different way; it's a way to interpret the information.

Dreams usually mean nothing.
