Trying to Graduate...

Question Posted Saturday June 20 2009, 1:56 am

Okay, I haven't done this for awhile, but here goes...

I am home schooled, have not gone to school, and have not graduated.
I need to get this taken care of...

So, I need to either get on a Website that let's me earn my Diploma, or go into Michigan Works and get my GED...
But, I guess what I'm getting at is: Do you or have done any of this. And if so, I would appreciate some input...

Thanks!

Alright, I got a solution... I could just get my GED because it is easier - but, lose out on the college benefits...

What do you think?

You say you are home schooled, then if you were home schooled properly then you should have a high school diploma, but if your parents did not follow thru, then I don't think it is too late. You are 18 and an adult. You should contact the adult education department in your State. The one closest to you. All the big cities have them. You may be able to go in and just take the test to get your high school diploma. If you haven't had enough home schooling then you may have to take more classes. They will be able to tell you what you are eligible for after they get all of your information. And the first advicinator is correct, you can still go to college once you have either the diploma or the GED certificate. If you did not take your SAT's perhaps you should do that also, if you want to go to a private college, You won't need to take SAT;s if you go to a community college. Which I highly recommend because you'll save money onthe first two years of a four year degree if you attend a community college first. Good grades will get you into a private university or state college, after you complete two years in community college.
Hope this helps.

I need to start first by saying that I have not personally done this so I cannot EXACTLY answer your question.

I am a homeschooling parent and my husband has a master's degree in education. My reason for giving you my personal input is this: While I cannot tell you HOW to get a diploma or a GED I can tell you that more than likely the college you are planning to attend will not care what you have. They are more interested in SAT scores. If you have not already taken this test you can find out more information at the link below and there are books at the library and book stores to help you prepare.

Again, I know this didn't answer your question but I hope it helps. Once you find out HOW to get an official graduation document, it doesn't matter which one you get, as long as there is proof of graduation. (Or at least this seems true in the state of Ohio)

Best of luck.
