I'm constantly renting movies and would just like some ideas on really good movies. I like romances (like The Notebook, Titanic), and historical movies (The Other Boelyn Girl) and comedies (My Best Friend's Girl).
Ignatz answered Friday May 22 2009, 5:50 pm: "Shakespeare in Love" is great historical romance. If you don't mind subtitles, check out "Juana la Loca", the story of Queen Juana of Castile's obsessive love for King Philip of Aragon. For more modern history, check out "The Lost City" about the Cuban Revolution (great soundtrack, great acting, and beautiful cinematography). Also, definitely check out "Cyrano de Bergerac", with Gerard Depardieu.
Comedies: "Liar Liar" is brilliant, as are The Marx Brothers "Duck Soup", "A Night at the Opera" and "The Cocoanuts". Classic screwball romantic comedy: "Bringing Up Baby". And pretty much any Danny Kaye musical is worth watching, but I have a soft spot in my heart for "Wonder Man" and "The Court Jester".
