Hi. Recently, I've been having some problems down there. I vagina has been stinging badly, even more when I go to the bathroom. And it itches, a lot. When I do go to itch, it hurts even more. Also, it hurts to put in and take out a tampon. This has been happening for about 2 months. And, any discharge is thick and yellow and it smells very strong (stronger than it usually does), and it even has sort of a urine smell to it. Could it just be from my underwear rubbing against it? Often, to be on the safe side if someone's home, my boyfriend will finger me through my underwear. Let me clarify this, my underwear DO NOT go inside of me, it just rubs against it. Do I have an infection of some sort? Can it be more serious? What could I do to fix the problem? Would it sound suspicious if I told my Mom about it? Any answers would be a great help. Thanks.

With a yeast infection, sex (or inserting things such as tampons) can be painful.
I doubt it's a UTI, since you've had it for quite a long time and UTI's worsen over time, making you feel unwell.
Since I am not a doctor and you probably won't find one here, I urge you to see one, to give you a proper diagnosis and prescribe meds if you need them.
If you don't, your situation won't get any better.. it may even get worse.
Make an appointment right away and sort it out, since having those problems for about 2 months can't be very fun! [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
sillykissers answered Wednesday February 25 2009, 7:34 am: If you aren't having sex, then it probably is just an infection from your underwear. Certain kinds of materials can cause reactions down there. Don't let your boyfriend finger you through your underwear, and see your doctor to get medication! A yellow/smelly discharge usually points to an infection or STD! [ sillykissers's advice column | Ask sillykissers A Question ]
maddiec123 answered Wednesday February 25 2009, 1:13 am: Yes. You have an infection.
Yes. It can get more serious if you don't get treated.
Yes. You need to see a Doctor.
No, this is not caused by your underwear 'rubbing against it'.
Tell your mom you think you have a yeast infection or urinary track infection and would like to go to the Dr.. Those are common female complaints and not neccessarily sexualy related. The Dr. is NOT allowed to disclose your diagnosis with your mother. That is confidential. [ maddiec123's advice column | Ask maddiec123 A Question ]
Besmart answered Wednesday February 25 2009, 12:26 am: Sounds like an infection to me! And if you don't get it treated right away it will get worse. Do not touch it, you are just adding more bacteria to it. Do not wash it. And don't let ur bf touch it either. Try not to wear underwear. Treat this like a wound and try to make sure nothing it touching it so it can heal. Often bacteria and yeast grow more in wet enviroments so try not to go swimming and change clothes if they are sweaty. SEE A DOCTOR. [ Besmart's advice column | Ask Besmart A Question ]
